YouTube monetizing algorithm problematic

DoctorWho1975

If you are unfamiliar with Ownage Pranks its a voice actor who has multiple voices and does pranks.. many are insanely funny. Well with the recent change in YouTube's monetizing policies an innocent thumbnail is enough to have a video go from monetized to demonetized.

John Wolfe's video is a bit better.

He doesn't act like this unless there's a reason to do so, i.e. satire.

I think this is a case of Google thinking that they are too big to fail, so why care?

Linus posts some kooky thumbnails... imagine if this algorithm decided to demonetize those videos, or really any tech YouTuber. That could be very bad for peeps whose whole income is based on YouTube giving them their blessing to actually make money.

Google set this system up (not initially, but this is what it has become) and the guide-lines are alienating a great deal of Youtubers due to auto-captioning tagging swears in videos. Apparently, blood isn't detected as part of the demonetization but one swear word is.

I mean the amount of "youtube is killing me/youtube is going down hill" videos I've seen in "suggested" has been increasing.

And in ownage pranks case its a character in a non-descript white car with the word ANIMATED on it. Or the picture of an Indian man with headphones on in what looks to be a call center, no swearing, no obvious bad thumbnails.. yet YouTube nails them as bad then support doesn't do fuck all for them. Support SHOULD be looking at the thumbnails themselves.. then forwarding it to the team that handles this particular piece of software goin hey.. this was a false positive, can you explain why. But that would be too much like work.

If Google would target obnoxious thumbnails and clickbait titles, 70% of YouTubes content would vanish.

That same lousy excuse is unacceptable to folks like you when it comes to net neutrality.
