GPU Temperature making me feel weird!

Parts:

i7-6700k

Phanteks PH-TC12Ls cooler

Phanteks p400 Case

RX 580 Armor OC edition

I have 3 intake fans and 2 exhaust fans.

For some reason my GPU hits 90°c while the fan is at 90%. Maxed out keeps it at 85°c. I have no idea why it is like this. It's annoying hearing a jet engine. And I just am uncomfortable with it being that high. Is this normal? Or is something weird?

No, that's not normal.

those temps are really high, and those fan speeds are really high too.

maybe RMA?

True, it's not the best cooler, but it's not horrible either. definitely better than the reference card. newegg reviews say that this card is 70c at high fan speeds, not 90c.

Yeah that, the MSI armour cooler is a heap of barely usable crap, the best thing is the PCB is nice and you can watercool it cheaper as the card doesn't cost as much as the nicer air cooled ones. Look for an aftermarket air cooler for the card.

Yours faithfully

Not surprised. The armor cooler design is at most suitable for 150W cards, not 180w cards like the 580.

It's weird. You could RMA it if new, or open it up and change thermal paste and pads which might be causing the problem. I do not suggest to bother tho, just return it if possible.

my 480 hits 220 with +50 power and using furmark/kombustor, and around 200 in game. they should not have ever even considered putting a cooler that shit on these cards. ive seen 1050s with better coolers lmao

it shouldnt make you feel weird, the heat or EM shouldnt make you feel any different, only worried :P

GPUs and CPUs nowadays are designed for quiet use so they go up to 90C. If you use custom fan profiles it is a lot better.
