I would watch some reviews of the laptop you want to get and then go into a PC world like store and see if they have the ones you want in there and test them out.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

A few side notes. I've seen quite a few people claiming to have issues with the Aorus keyboard with some weird key presses, or keys just outright not working. Apparently this has been fixed by a firmware update, however the Aorus support forums lead me to believe it's still ongoing.

The alienware seems to only be good if a repaste is done and if you win the lottery with the heatsink issue. Is it even an issue anymore?

I've not been able to find any store (even their own) that offers different thermal paste selections for the Clevo's. apparently Metabox used IC Diamond 24 (or 7 depending on who you ask) however have not been able to verify this with a reputable source. and no idea what Resistance uses, so i'd basically be doing it my self if need be.

Can people comment on the above list or even list ones that my have slipped by?

TL;DR help save my sanity

- not sure about the Aorus

- Alienware heatsink issue only matters if you OC, it's fine.

- Kong Computers apply ICDiamond to CPU+GPU by default iirc

idk

Just now, Sierra Fox said:

unfortunately there's nothing like this where I live. the only store that could possibly have one of these out be the GS73

Ah, ok. umm, I would just stick to youtube review then. If you have problems with a laptop and its new then don't take it apart as it will void the warranty, depending on the degree of the warranty.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Hey, I'm also retiring my GT72! Piece of crap has already had 3 RMAs in 1.5 years. So I'm clearly never going MSI again.

I've decided on a Clevo, probably from HIDevolution. I find it extremely difficult to find negative reviews of them. It's between them and LPC Digital, who's a little cheaper.

Galm's pinned post at the top of this Laptops and Pre-Builts forum has been tremendous help to me. I'll leave a link at the bottom here if you're interested :)

It is no longer an issue.  I got an early one with a messed up heatsink and with a -0.185V undervolt I get awesome temps when gaming.

I have a reseller guide too.  But no real need to read it if your going with HID lol unless you're in Europe where ObsidianPC is an option.

OP the AW heatsink issue is fixed.  Its possible to get bad temps but not much more likely than anyone else.
