I have a 4c/8T Kaby Lake Xeon with the iGPU in my laptop. It's pretty awesome. I didn't realize Intel had only released the mobile Kaby ones up to now.

They've got themselves in a corner as E5 covers so much of that market both with ththe 1600 series for single proc and obviously the 2600's for dual. 

 

I very much doubt you'll see 6 core E3's unless they make the E3 platform all have embedded GPU's to go against E5 with dual proc support while dropping the 1600 product line.

These aren't the real Xeons.  They're the same silicon as the regular 7700K's and similar with ECC and vPro and shit fused on instead of off.

Just a little note, thet don't "fuse" anything on, they just leave them be. So all silicon has ECC, vPro, ..., etc to begin with. They just spend a bit of money making sure you don't get those features without paying.

No? The E3-1231 v3 launched at $240. Same for the 1230 v5 ($250). These have been standard prices for the lowest-clocked HT Xeon E5 since the inception of the E5 denomination with Sandy Bridge.

No. Because it isn't connected to the rest of the circuit after fusing it off.

Just like you can't enable cores on an i3 to make it into an i5.
