A GTX 1070ti?

aye, it's the next GPU to launch I heard it's even more powerful than the new titan Xp :P

Also according to user benchmark they are just as good as each other http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-980-Ti-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1070/3439vs3609, so go for what every is cheaper, unless you look at those scores and think otherwise

Well, alright.. But the link you sent me now is just the normal GTX 1070, not 1070ti.

what happens if you overclock the 1070 though, is it still the same story (I'm generally asking I don't know, as I don't know how well 1070s overclock)

The 980ti scales overclocking better than the 1070, provided the silicon is good and cooling capable enough usually the 980ti overclocked will be slightly faster than the overclocked 1070, at higher energy cost though.

GT/X 1030 apparently to rival rx550

and that's true, 980Ti is still a good card

a GT1030? now that I had no idea of, sounds very promising for those cheap display adapter solutions, hopefully it is significantly better than the GT730 in price to performance.

Right now I'm leaning towards the 980Ti because I'm not really looking into getting into anything beyond like Ark, Rust, Arma 3, Minecraft, and a few others at 1080p 60fps and I like saving money so I'm feeling pretty good about the 980Ti.

There's really very, very little in it IMO.

But there are these 2 main spec differences to consider.

1. The 980ti uses significantly more power to run 250 vs 150 TDP

2. The 1070 has more VRAM 8GB vs 6GB

I play alot of Squad in 4K and use a feature called texture streaming, I can use up to 7.8GB VRAM etc. An unusual gaming situation granted but important for me.

Personally I would get an aftermarket 1070.

I also thought a lot about that when upgrading and i chose the 1070 because of more VRAM, the newer architecture and more power-efficient. As cool as such a over-the-top card like a lightning looks and feel... at the end of the day it is mainly the chip on the card which makes a GPU "better" or "worse", which does not mean that you always have to take the "newer" one... if you get a great deal on an older card - well...

I think the piledrivers showed that very well because despite them being capable of insane overclocks they just couldnt beat out Intel chips.

A good 980ti beats a 1070, a great 980ti matches a stock 1080. All a matter of luck. In production a 980ti blows a 1070 out of the water.

HOWEVER

1070 has a  better DX12 implementation with the latest DX12 patch from Nvidia,  as a 1070 owner it pulled 5-10 fps ahead in Forza Horizon 3

Not anymore, I gained about 20fps in my lows and a solid 10-20fps highs in all my DX12 games after 378.78.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
