That pc is cheap becuase they cut costs on certain parts. They advertise a 6700k and a 1060, but most of the other parts will be cheap crap. Custom builds are still better.

They go to the effort of putting in a 6700K in and only put in a 1060, I'd expect a 1070 or 1080 and I guess they'll have put in a cheap PSU that will explode in 2 days.

Don't think so, especially if the 1060 is founders edition, and the AiO is not top level, plus SSDs and HDDs will not be either.

I laughedvpretty hard when i saw the original price 1400$, come on....

hang on.. i got this:

- cheapest watercooler they could find, so they could slap that in the title, without cooling benefit, with extra points of failure

- the vareous pictures dont even have the same GTX1060 in there, the fuck...

- they dont mention HDD and SSD brand, you better believe that's the cheapest bidder

- what the fuck does "wifi ready" even mean... does it or does it not have wifi?

- "Special Liquid / Water Cooling Assembled by SkyTech PC" watercooling *assembled* by skytech pc, or shoved a thermaltake aio in there by skytech kludge & co?

- "80 plus certified 600 watt" guys.. that's not even a bronze, that's a fire hazard..

- "will have a longer manufacturer's warranty than other competing custom PC." sorry.. even the jackasses around the corner from me give longer than a year.

- "Our commitment to providing you with the BEST quality for computers is unmatched." puget systems.

- "Your true source for REAL computer gaming!" on an average GPU

- "4k gaming experience?" at 3 frames per second with a GTX1060

- "The Geforce GTX 1060 is loaded with new innovative technologies, making it the perfect choice for high end games. " this is just delusional.

just for kicks, i through together an identically specced pc for cheaper than the "sale price" with higher quality components. To be entirely honest, i would not use a liquid cooler, an air cooler would have been cheaper and similar performance for a single rad, and you would be able to save more money by using a non z170 board, which I'm sure the prebuilt doesn't use.

id say $800, mobo, drives and PSU are probably together just above $150 lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Yep, totally agree with you. This is the unfortunate facts of the prebuilt industry. Countless systems are released advertising top o the line parts and looking pretty solid from the outside, but beneath the hood, nothing but cheap crap is thrown in. I totally agree with you that the system likely ships with some crappy board, because if it had a z170 board in it im sure they would have added a .1ghz OC and advertise it as "overclocked".

windows is 20$ on reddit or kinguin, plus there are virtually no repercussions for using unactivated windows. As i said, i got MUCH higher quality components then what was used in the build. I can easily sacrifice the quality of several parts slightly and still end up with a better, cheaper system with windows.

From what I can see its got a Asus Z170-A inside. Its very believable that they have higher quality parts than we belive since they can buy in bulk as a manfuacture and get their parts cheaper than your average consumer. Also those $20 window keys are OEM keys, meaning if you have an issue with windows your going to have to figure it out on your own. (though I am in a cisco class right now so thats going to be part of my job but I digress)

We have already deduced that pictures mean nothing, as different pictures show different parts. The odds of it having an Asus z170-A is slim to none. They would have mentioned it in the specs if it did. From experience, it has low quality parts. We know it has a "600 w 80 +" PSU, the lack of any kind of rating bronze/gold/plat immediately pins it as a VERY low quality unit. I would never put one of these in my system even if building on an extreme budget. Besides that, this is a very clear and long pattern in the OEM PC business. Like much of the world, the industry is run on marketing. They put in several high grade components (the 1060, 6700k) and make sure they make it VERY clear that there PC has those parts in it. The remaining parts are genuinely not disclosed, or at least not easily discerned. This is to hide the fact that they put in low quality products in there. Most consumers see the 1060 and 6700k and immediately say "Hey! This is a great deal!". What incentives do the manufactures have to put in high quality components for the rest of the system? Why would they stick in an expensive motherboard if 99% of consumers in the used category wouldn't know or care about the difference? To most people, if you ask them what the difference is between a 600w 80+ psu and a 450w 80+ bronze, they will simply say the first one is better because it offers more power. This applies to the remainder of the components as well. Most people i know wouldn't be able to say that a WD hard drive is more reliable then a Hitachi drive, and so on. End of the day, the manufactures see absolutely no reason to put in higher quality components in there system. They want to put a PC on the market that is the lowest production cost and lowest retail price in order to maximize products, and more expensive components forces them to have a more expensive system or a smaller markup.

This has turned kind of ranty, sorry :D
