Oh, wow, well if you're fine with getting 30 FPS constant, then you should be able to get that with a GTX 1070. You might need to turn some settings down in some games though. I consider anything below 60 to be low and for most games I play 80-120 is preferred.

Do you guys think 4k is better or 144hz 1080p? Thinking about investing in a new one, I am leaning towards 4k but I keep hearing 144hz is really good too. Just wondering. The monitor will be used for gaming and watching movies/videos. Thanks

Current specs are on my profile, I am going to upgrade my r9 270 to a gtx 1070 before I get the monitor, and upgrade the 8gb ram to 16. I play most of the common game genres.

1080p or 1440p 144hz? Why dont you save some money and just go for a 1440p panel instead, perfect for a 1070.

144hz for FPS games

4k for MMO's

Even with the best hardware you will still get low FPS trying to run games at 4k. I think 1440p/144hz is still the sweet spot for gaming. 4k should be ready in 2-3 years.

If 30fps is enough to you why bother with a 144hz monitor? just sayin'

ouch - if you want to run 144 Hz you want a rig that delivers 144FPS under ideal circumstances... just saying. 30 FPS is a waste here and bananas.

a single 1070 will also not drive 144FPS with high / ultra settings at 4K, not even close. I guess not even at medium at most games.

I run witcher 3 at ultra at 3440x1440 with a 1070 at around 70FPS on a 60 Hz panel....

4K is dead unless you are into 4k content creation.  2560x1440 is a great resolution with the right balance between gaming and productivity.  The ideal for me is ultrawide 3440x1440 at 60Hz since productivity is my priority.

I'll keep that in consideration. It will be a few months before I can get the monitor so if I need to save money I will get a 1440p, but the 4k would probably have more uses than gaming. Another big part would be watching videos/movies too. Thanks

That's a ton of money for a 1440p ultra wide. I would love won if I could afford it, but I can't find one for under 600 dollars, although 4k isn't much better at around 400 dollars...

I don't think it's dead, it's all about if you have the hardware to run 4K or not. And not to mention you do get a lot of screen estate on a 4K monitor.

Thus, from the war of nature, from famine and death, the most exalted object which we are capable of conceiving, namely, the production of the higher animals, directly follows. There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.
