Looking at a used computer how to test for quality

Hi all,

Sadly computer that I planned to upgrade can't handle my graphic card.  Saw on craigslist a potential great deal, a I-5-6600K withasus Z170 board 8 gigs ram, asetek 120 mm water cooler. 600 watt power gtx 960 ddr5 4 gig gpu for $500

should I walk away or go for it

Seems like a pretty typical price, but as Godlygamer said, you should probably check it out.

Yes, but, I would have no clue if water cooler really works for example, he says he never did overclocking. My worry, can you burn out the processor or other part and Gerry-rig it to temp work?

Run Stress Tests, Crystal Disk Info and a quick benchmark. The price seems pretty good.

If the temp is running under 37 degrees Celsius its a good cooler.

Now, if I do not over lock, would stock cooler work?  I am in Newegg and at $516 for similar build except GPU, Cooler and case.  Already own, 600 watt psu and 2 gig gpu R-7-360.

600W psu sounds bad if you don't mention the maker, I wouldn't suggest overclocking on a 600W unnamed psu.

 

And you will need an aftermarket cooler to oc just due to the temps the stock cooler will not be enough to keep the chip from overheating with an overclock.
