GTX 1060 3gb or RX 470 4GB?

I want to play newer AAA games at 1080p high to ultra settings

like sea of thieves, battlefield 1, star citizen, titanfall 2, rainbow six siege and more

Why not RX480 4GB? Should be the same price as the 1060 3GB.

Be wary about the GTX 1060's, the lower in memory for the is not the only change. The CUDA core count and texture units changed as well.

I would probably still choose the GTX 1060 though.

RX 470 4GB if the price is good in your country. I he can go over 3GB in GTA 5 and higher textures will want that extra RAM. Just make sure that whichever card you get is a good aftermarket one. I would say check reviews, but 1060 3GB ones aren't out yet. But, review lead me to my card since it's the quietest and coolest running one of the lot.

470. 470 470 470 470 470. The 1060 3GB is a cut-down hackjob that should've been called a 1050--this from a guy who runs two GTX 750 Ti's, a GTX 960, a GTX 1070 and a freaking GT 730. The 470 is a much better value and can easily be overclocked to near the levels of a reference RX 480.

IIRC you can't run 2 750 Ti's...

 

But i heard driver updates and DX12 fixed that? (Talking about MDA and Explicit)

I'm not sure about the performance about the 3GB 1060, but I think the 470 is pretty good for what you're getting. It's basically a cheaper version of the 4GB 480.

3gb isn't really enough... might be barely enough for today, but future proof is somethign different.

I 'll vote 470, more vram, will get better in the future ( dx12 ) and at last it isn't a scam like 1060 3gb is. Just get an aftermarket if you care about it working cooler and more silently.

I would recommend the 1060 GTX 3GB based on many reviews included this comparison (480 4GB / 1060 3GB / 1060 6GB ):

I actually ordered the 3 GB for star citizen (only game I'm playing), and will comment it on the SC hardware forum after doing some test.
