PSU smell?

Hi guys, 

so i bought a cheap 600W PSU from somebody i know, (Cooler Master B600 VER.2, 600W)

but i found out that it sligly smells. (no, not because the PSU is a pile of junk and failing.) 

Its the PSU and the PSU cables. I got it used for a pretty good price, and its working great so i dont really want to complain about it to my friend. 
I did not really notice is that often at first, but know the entire case smells abit of it. (not that i smell it away from the case, but i wish it removed.) 

What can i do to get rid of the smell?

Open the case up and leave it outside for a bit

Is the psu new or semi new?

it's probably just the environment it was in.

unless there's some odd behavior,you should be fine.

I mean, the B600 isn't great but it shouldn't smell? Maybe ask for an RMA?

I'm pretty sure that its the environment and not the PSU itself.

The PSU is semi-new. But again, its the environment not the PSU itself.

Honestly, i dont want a refund as i got it for a pretty good price as a favor, and returning it now would seem ungrateful, and i would have to invest money in a new psu.

New PSUs should smell some. All of mine I recall smelling. Ahh, how I love that smell. 

 

Printed circuit boards, I have read, are sometimes sprayed with some type of chemicals for when they are in the packaging. Apparently this stuff can smell, so it's totally normal. Now, a burning smell is not a good smell, but if it's more of a metallic type of smell that's the good stuff.
