Amazon spying on customers

Amazon kept removing the review because it was violation of the site’s policy. They replied back explaining that the reason why they kept removing the review, is because she knew the author personally. How did Amazon know that you knew the author personally? She started following the author on social media after reading their first book. According to her, that’s the only relationship she has with the author.

Conclusions-Amazon has been data mining their customers to know more about their activities and understand them. So far, it looks as though Facebook and Twitter are the company’s primary sites to mine data about their users, although we are in the dark as to how they are managing to go so deep and monitor a single relationship.

 

 

I think we use passwords only because people we know dont spy on us.. Rest is as open as it can be..I hope therewill be investigation on this matter..

Well if she doesn't have a private profile, and all her information is public, it's not spying, it's consulting public information.

When you go out if someone is following you and taking note of everything you do in public covertly, it is not spying it is just consulting public information..

Or just accept that nothing you do on the internet can be private and understand that any and all information on you that is on the internet is public and everyone has the right to use it.

Data mining is a practice that almost all major companies participate in for many reasons with one of the main reasons being focused advertisements. A lot of the time it can actually be helpful and is why when you visit amazon to look at products and don't buy anything they may email you suggestions based on that item. It's really not anything to be too up in a stir about unless you're talking about the practice in general.

I'm going to sound an arse and some backseat moderating, but this is annoying me lately: 

 

 

Your thread must include some original input to tell the reader why it is relevant to them, and what your personal opinion on the topic is.

Your thread should also include quotes from the cited source(s). While you shouldn't just copy the entire article, your quote should give the reader a summary of the article in a way that gives the key details, but also leaves room for them to read the full article on the linked website. Please use quote tags (the speech bubble at the top of the editor, under the   :)) to show that you have copied this content from another site.

THIS, SO MUCH THIS. The rule of thumb is if you don't want someone to know information about yourself don't put it on the net. I don't get it why everyone posts about their lives on facebook and then complains about MUY PRIVACYS. It seems the concept of leaving parts of yourself off the net died off in the 90's along with the era of dial up.

Pretty obvious same with google. I look up GTX980 and I see ads for it all over google for the next 2 days and it pops up on my Amazon saying hey look buy this it is on sale (not really)

The scary part is that amazon even spy on people who don't even have an Amazon account ...
