New Zealand Customs destroy a Gigabyte G1 Assassin 2

gabbdogg
It seems that the folks over in New Zealand customs decided to go crazy on a GIGABYTE G1 Assassin 2 looking for the gun that was obviously picked up during the x-ray process. Taking a look below we can see the obvious culprit of the whole process, the gun shaped heatsink that GIGABYTE use.

Well

We have the trolling law, then this

Good job New Zealand, GOOD JOB

Well I mean, honestly, I blame Gigabyte for having a stupid motherboard design than customs. Probably none of them actually built or know how a pc works. And imo, the pcie tab things are actually quite difficult to unhook (mostly cuz of my meaty fingers). And considering how busy they probably are, they probably didnt have time to properly disassemble it.

Still a shitty thing to do, but meh, customs have done worse.

Honestly I see why they did it.

On an xray, that'd come up like a gun. When they open the case they're likely not going to be too careful when they're thinking "this person is smuggling in weapons".

1. Motherboard manufacturers from here on should never design a heatsink to resemble a a firearm.

2. Good on customs for being vigilant (as they should). It's unfortunate they ripped the cards out, though.

Yep,  I understand. Customs officers have much better things to do with their time than work out how to properly uninstall GPUs when they have more important things to do like find out if this PC is just that or something more sinister.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

I get that customs had to do what they had to do, but who is going to pay for the damages?

See they need lessons from Mexican custom officers, those fuckers know exactly what a motherboard is and how fancy ones cost more and are made on China so it's 33% tax or you can live it here.... assholes.

Someone posted this not too long ago, I said it before and I'll say it again, if you have an ounce of common sense you don't take anything that even remotely looks like a gun to the airport. Both parties are to blame.
