Video games age ratings to high.

ADZ_123_!"£

To be fair most kids have watched porn by the time they're even capable of understanding anything in GTA.

But, the majority of those things things are optional.

True with the entire porn thing and it's an open world game so you can do whatever the hell you want to but I'm sure lots of kids do manage to find there way into the strip clubs some how.

I think the ratings should stay the way they are. While I know parents will buy games for children under the age rating, I still think it should be there to inform parents about what the child will be exposed to. I don't really take video games to heart and let them affect me because I know they are not real (I was the same as a child as well), but I've seen many kids who act out in violent ways because of what was in video games. It's sometimes hard for children to differentiate reality versus virtual, and this causes them to think certain inappropriate behavior is okay. I think the age ratings are there as a warning more than anything, but I do believe they should still be in place.

On that note, happy gaming! :)

I actually think that younger kids being able to play mature rated games with older adults is more destructive than playing the game itself. It's dangerous on both parties.

(Sorry for double posting)

I think that if a child was to start to listen to what some party of grown and drunk people in a game of cod and listened to what they where saying he would be permanently shocked.

Haha Mad Max Payne. Pick one Mad Max, or Max Payne xD

OP: I don't think the ratings are wrong. I mean most games you can buy regardless of age. They're mainly there to let people know what to expect in the game and don't really stop people from buying them.

I wrote Mad Max and remembered the game was Max Payne and forgot to backspace a little.

basically any game nomatter what the content is, will be rated M as long as there is an online multiplayer community. personally the i dont think the ratings are too high or too low. i think they are simply pointless. if the person is too young, their parents are going to buy it anyways so it doesnt really matter

I think it's funny how some kid was playing Call of Duty and killed a parent. Now the killed isn't funny this part is. Then Call of Duty gets a bad vibe, but the dumb*** parent who bought CoD for their 8 year old or older with anger issues doesn't get blamed because he or she is dead and has no say. This world is messed up....

Violent games do put those thoughts into a child's mind. Due to development, the child will learn and grow from this game.  May not happen to every child but can happen to a few.  And when i refer someone as a child, i refer anyone under the age of 16, because 16 is when one begins their more mature aging.

I think that they need to be abolished and instead there is very good descriptions with very large text about what the game contains of violence, sex and drugs.

I remember seeing something about some kid shooting his mother with a gun after he wasn't allowed to play video games. Now why the fuck would that child even have a gun?

It is my belief that children need to reach a certain maturity level before they should be exposed to certain things. You can't shield them completely however and that makes it difficult but seeing an eight-year-old scream die motherfucker die more while stabbing the remains of a freshly slain NPC, then drive his car away and pick up a hooker knowing full well what they are for only to run them over when you're done is revolting to me. I'm pretty sure we should leave that to the adults.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

Agreed I think that sexual content shouldn't be in games under a certain age rating but other than that most games like BF4 aren't that bad.

To be honest I was more concerned that the game rewards criminal activity in general. An adult mind is (usually) capable of abstracting the game from the real world and just think it's funny to pretend because there are no real-world consequences. A child's mind is still too malleable and the values that are engrained within an adult aren't necessarily so in a kid, and can be influenced by games like this. Becoming violent themselves seems a bit extreme to me and I don't think it goes that far, but they certainly do take over foul language and, to some extent, bad behaviour. Granted, every person matures at different rates and the line isn't as clear as just putting an age rating on there, but you get the point.

Also, don't underestimate the bad influence people can have on each other when playing online and how little control can be had over that.

When that new game that basically involves going around and killing people pointlessly, can't remember the name of it, will bring up a lot of hoo-haa in the media.

My opinion may differ because im not 18 yet... but yeah I think we should do more education about this medium and the art and story of Video "Games"

because you see many people in todays society that dont understand or dont see video games as an important part of todays media and culture.

You should try to educate with them about them because they can harm or benefit you as much as anything else:D

Minecraft is a good example it can teach you a lot of things but  games like cod are more on the "not very educational" site.

CS:GO is a good alternative to any Russian language course :D jk

No, BF4's M rating is appropriate for what the game contains.

What the multilayer or the campaign?

Both. You hear people saying "fuck" quite often in BF4, do you not? I've NEVER heard that in a T-rated game, "shit" would be the most. Here's what the ESRB had to say about it.

"This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a U.S. Marine (Recker) and his Special Forces unit as they battle enemy forces in China and Russia. Players use sniper rifles, machine guns, rocket launchers, and mines to kill enemy soldiers engage in frenetic, realistic battle. Some sequences involve stealth tactics, in which players sneak up on enemies to stab them at close range. Combat is highlighted by realistic gunfire, large explosions, and screams of pain; large blood-splatter effects also occur. One sequence requires players to use a knife to cut off the leg of a wounded comrade; another depicts a character getting beaten and electrocuted by an interrogator. The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “a*shole” appear in the dialogue."

Definitely sounds like something that should be rated T! /s

People who like playing campaign. Pretty simple, really.

In response to Battlefield 4:

Yeah, sure, the defenseless people are only in campaign, but that's quite literally like this; "I donated $50,000 to charity, but shot a kid!"... you wouldn't shrug off the shooting of child just because the rest of his actions are okay or good.

I also want to be very clear. I do not give a single damn about the rating system, and I do play games of all ratings.

I don't want to sound like a complete ignorant idiot but it's a war game and in war there will be casualty's and actually the in the multiplayer it's not like there are a load of defenceless civilians running around the map as well.

Option 3: I don't care about ratings.

Children can play games like CoD and GTA IMO, if their parents know they will not go ape shit.

I played GTA when I was a kid and I was allowed to play it, if I was just acting normal.

That makes at least me think these age ratings do not apply to everyone
