Project Toaster [NCASE M1, 4670K, Impact Z87, GTX 970 G1][WIP]

Butterfish
Go to solution Solved by Butterfish,

Finally some news on the project! - well, it's not good news..

I want to first apologize to everyone who were following this thread and expecting progress..

Project Toaster is sadly over, due to my lack in time and interest in the build. It was a fun ride, but i realized that the case was just too much of a hazzle and with all the setbacks i had with months and months of waiting for parts, i just couldn't bare it anymore. The toaster has gotten a new owner - one of my close friends. He needed a small chassis for carrying around, and i thought it would be best to give it to someone who would appreciate it alot more. I have therefore decided to switch back to ATX for now.

I can't thank you guys enough for all the support and replies on this thread. Who knows - maybe i will come up with something new? ;) I will keep you updated.

:D  :D  :D

I should not have said anything :D

Your M1 is cursed :D

If wahaha360 can't figure it out for you, I will send you mine ;)

Please! I got a LAN party coming up next friday! :D

Update #13 - It's done! (Kinda...)

As @MrSuperb pointed out, my ncase is probably cursed. BUT i've worked around the problem and have cheated fate!

Here she is! Done(ish..) I couldn't fit my 970 in it because of the backplate and the PSU clearance. I threw in my 670 instead and it just barely fits. At least i have a working PC now! Still waiting for that V3 Bracket tho... No hardcore gaming for me just yet. It's gonna be a hard time playing 1440p on my old GPU. :P

This is not the final pictures, dont worry. I will take some good pics with a high quality camera once it's completely done. :)

A GTX670 just barely fitting scares me.

Do note that i'm using the V2 bracket! Not V3

Over at [H]ardForum someone is designing a custom SFX PSU bracket which sits like the ATX bracket, i.e. in the front of the case.

I'm in the process of getting quotes for that bracket. It'll depend on price whether I'll go through with it or not.

Here's the prototype, a production version would sit further forward a bit to clear the card better.

Oh that's very tidy. I could make something like that if I was running into trouble. Just waiting on some cables to arrive and my gear will finally start making its way inside the NCASE :)

I've found a website that can cut me a 1,5mm thick acrylic window in exactly the right dimensions of my sidepanel. Full M1 sidepanel window mod incoming perhaps? Yay or nay? :D
