So, it seems the only two owners of this monitor both have dead pixels. This doesn't inspire confidence.

I would suggest waiting for a little bit for more reviews before making any sort of declarative statements.  That's still well within the margin of error as far as samples go.  If there are a total of 700 ratings or more, and a large majority of them mention dead pixel issues, then there is reason to worry.  Otherwise, don't sweat it.  :)

The ASUS PB278Q was a 6-bit panel, not a true 8-bit like this one.

This is a very nice upgrade, going with a true 8-bit panel. It is probably to compete against the Dell U2713HM which sports a true 8-bit panel and has less back light bleeding (common problem with PLS panels), and the price was about the same. There was really not a good deal to get the ASUS PB278Q.

I might sell my PB278Q and upgrade to this because having a PLS newa all my IPS and AH-IPS is weird.

Well you should do a review of the PB278QR if you get it. I'm quite sure you'd do an excellent job.

BTW, I think you pretty much own all of ASUS' monitors now, don't you? :D

The reading mode on this QR is quite nice, it's like a permanent f.lux, low blue light. My QR was manufactured in May 2014, so they should hit most online stores really soon. Screen definitely is high-quality, movies looks amazing and I have a high-end 8080 55 inch samsung in the living room.

Being from australia and all that makes tou be able to do that.

ASUS really needs a 2560x1600 30in monitor thats reasonably priced.

  • 2 weeks later...

Wonder the price, probably somewhat more expensive then the Q model.

Maybe a tad more at first but if you're patient I'm quite sure that it'll come down in price

or ASUS might surprise us and keep it at the same price point. You never know. :)

I see. I think you must be ASUS' number one customer with how many monitors you have of theirs. Maybe, if you're lucky and if you ask very nicely, they might just give you one early. :P

lol I wish. It would be nice to be in a situation like that though. I should actually get my a website up and properly publish reviews. I mean you never know it might actually happen.

I still kinda wish I could have gotten my hands on the PB248Q. :(
