When I tell someone a keyboard they want to buy is fucking horrible and built like shit, it's not because I'm being mean, it's because I want to drive home my point and save them from buying a shit product.

I think it is sometimes due to the language barrier.
Nonnative English speakers like myself having a hard time writing good formal English. It happened that it comes across as being condescending and unfriendly.

I think what he meant is "being dicks" is the fanboyism you find in many PCMR cults. There is certainly some of that here as well, it's something you won't be able to get away from. I have my ongoing battles with the Linux cult who thinks Linux is the all mighty savior and solution to all of the problems facing Mac and Windows users. To which I reply, uh yea if you guys actually help novices get set up with Linux. I've seen people recommend Linux and then roll of the floor laughing when the poor kid said he had no idea what the Terminal is. Inevitably they'll just abandon the kid and now he's left with no Windows install to fall back to because he followed instructions and formatted it.
