Would the 3060 really compare to the 2080 ti?

There have always been issues like that. Just as often as AMD actually. That hasn't happened with AMD drivers since the 20.2.X drivers. Nvidia had it happen with a few driver releases at the launch of their cards as well. (AMD is admittedly slower at fixing them)

So you can't name the last time it happened to Nvidia? Where people were so frustrated they were returning or selling their cards?
When was the last time YouTubers kept proclaiming that Nvidia has horrible drivers? I haven't seen it. Yet I've seen dozens of videos where they'll complain about AMD drivers and how they've been begging them for years to work harder on them. So no. They're not the same.

So if AMD manages to get it not to be publicized, then it's not happening at all anymore? Is that really your metrics for this?

I never claimed they were.

This is going off topic though.

i think he means two years of product lines with no major issues, but i could be in the wrong

Product lines, as in the hardware? If that's the metric, no one has ever had 2 years without issues.

does the 2060 compare to the 1080 ti? nope.

The 970(lower launch price than the 2060) did match the 780Ti, the 1070($30 more than the 2060 at launch) beat the 980 Ti. Using only Turing as comparison point would imply that we never had more than ~15% improvements at the same price. But I don't think it will be faster than the 2080Ti, probably around the 2080 is a more realistic ~35% performance increase over the 2060, the issue is if the price is going to stay the same/drop, or if they are going to increase it again.

The pricing/position in the market is the same, just because Nvidia didn't use x70 doesn't change the position of the GPUs in the market. Basically it's not "does the x60/x70/x80 matches the flagship", it is "does the ~$250/$350/$600 GPU matches the flagship". And the 2060 specs are closer to being a 1070 successor than a 1060 one.

Kinda unrelated but it's quite curious that if you try to apply the same performance increase between the 960->1060 and 1060->2060 to the 2060->3060, the 3060 would actually match the 2080Ti.

if a 400$ card could perform like a card 900$ more expensive i'd be both happy, as people with smaller budget can get better performance.

and sad because some people essentially wasted 2000$ on two 2080ti

Why would it be sad? They are most likely wealthy so the money doesn't mean as much to them as the person waiting for the $400 card.

How will it compare? Or how will it perform?
Really, any questions like that are pointless. None of us know. Just wait until the card is released, and you'll see. It's only a few weeks.

They're figuring up to 30%. Naturally, that doesn't mean every game will get a 30% increase.

Eh, AMD is notorious for over-hyping their GPU line up, so I put absolutely no faith in big Navi. Their drivers are also pretty shit.

Until they have 2 solid years of problem free updates, I wouldn't even bother with them.

Compare to lets say, the 2080 super or ti.

not nessecarily.

i earn a good wage for a 19 year old in school (1.4k$ after 47% taxes) i'm not rich but i don't have many expenses.

i could easily save up for 2 or 3 months and get a 2080ti, but if i then find out that next month i could get the same performance for 900$ less, i'd be quite gutted, and as i'm not rich (just lucky enough to be in a position where saving a lot of money each month isn't a problem) it would be a huge kick in the nuts.

especially if little timmy of 16 years old has worked at a super market for the past 10 months to save up for it.

i agree most people who buy the high end cards can afford to buy 3 if they wanted, but others that strive for performance with low budgets just save up for a long time.

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.
