Overclocking a LOCKED CPU?

Go to solution Solved by Mister Woof,

I overclocked my locked 8700 and 9400.......but it was pretty small margin and ultimately not worth the trouble.

Hi,

I have an X51 r2 and it’s base clock speed is 3.10ghz and I want to get 3.6ghz on a Intel core i5-4440.

anything is Helpful

No, and besides, you made a threaded about power problems, overclocking your cpu won’t help.

You can't ever overclocked a locked cpu... well almost never. But just don't

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

I think some Skylake chips could be overclocked, but yeah.

I mean... you could do a big bclk overclock on that with an amazing motherboard and decent cooling system (on vrm as well).

but at that point if you spend the money getting an unlocked version of the cpu, you'd easily overclock more.

tl;dr - it's not worth the trouble.
