RX 570 vs 580 for i7 3770

Quinkle

Hey,

so im currently looking to buy a new graphics card for bf5, league and cod bo4/mw.

I've somewhat narrowed it down to AMD RX 570 and RX 580/590, they cost around same for me.

It will be matched with a I7 3770 non-k.

My questions are:

Will my cpu bottleneck my gpu too much if i go for 580/590?

If i go for rx 580/590, will it pull higher amount of power than the rx 570, even though my cpu will bottleneck it at the rx 570 performance?

Reason for last question is:

I live in Denmark(where electricity is super expensive), so if the rx 580 runs at its pressumed power its gonna cost about 60+ dollars more a year with my use, than the 570.

And at this point a gtx 1660 will be "cheaper", if i play over 2+ years.

Sincerely Quinkle :D

(hope text was understandable)

that's a really high figure, how did you get that $60 a year amount?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

1. 570 will bottleneck. but 580 up will severly.

2. yeah. but not too much since its capped.

570 can do high 1080p for 70-ish Fps. but since its bottleneck i guess betwenn 50-60 idk. ill actually go 1660 for cheaper electricity and more stable frame rate since its beyond RX570 like 30-40 percent faster.

The i7 3770, will be bottlenecked by an rx 570 (also, BF5 on an rx570 seems like a bad investment, especially if you're looking 2 years ahead).
I myself had an i7 2600 + gtx 970 (gtx 970 = ~rx580 -depends on the game), by this logic the i7 3770 will not bottleneck an rx580 or an rx590.

Now, I think, especially with your golden electricity, the gtx 1660 will be the best. If I'm to guess, the 1660 will be bottlenecked a little bit by the i7-3770, but not by much.

Edit: note: the i7 2600 did not bottleneck the gtx 970.

Now, how will a 3770 bottleneck an rx570.

I don't think we understand each other. Doesn't really matter, because I'm recommending the 1660 either way.

1 kwh is 2,5kroner(0,37 dollar) at an average of 5 hours of game time a day, 365 days a year and about 100 watt more.

(100w/1000w)*0,37price*5hours*365days = 67,252 dollars (is my math wrong here?)

The i7 3770 won't be bottlenecked by something that isn't hyper low end rn. And yeah the 1660 is power efficient, but we don't know how much it costs

Alright, ty for all your responses, ill go for the 1660, unless its too good for my cpu? No need to spend too much while im still a student ?

The 1660 is about 100 dollars more than the rx 580. rx 580 is about 200. I can afford it, but i just dont want to spend money needlessly

In that case, yes, you will be bottlenecked. A 3770 isn't sufficient for 144fps in most games.

I'd recommend getting a 570 8GB card and saving your money for a newer CPU.
