AMD charges 20 buckes extra so their CPU's com in a sexy box

I don't get why AMD is putting their CPU's in a big huge box.  To look sexy and customer appeal ?  Nice marketing tactic but I could no care less, I want to see performance not a stupid box lol.

I suppose.  I never had any beef with AMD.  I remember my old Athlon XP 3200+ lol.  Looks like right now their beating to it on every aspect except the server part.  Their HEDT blows away intel.  Ok single core it not as fast but who cares when a thread chokes it uses another one and sh*T  People are into single core cuz of gaming and the 9900K does a great job of that.  Compared to a TR the frame rate against a 9900k is lose by avg 5 fps sometimes 10 more against a TR.  So who cares about those lost frame rate when the CPU will blow the 9900k and 9980x in DAW or Video Editing and what not.  I know for fact Zen 2 will take over 9900k as it will release 16 cores 7nm fab ICP 15 percent gain and a nice boost in Turbo which know one knows what it will be.  It wont be near Intel most probably but it doesn't have to be its new tech 7nm fap more lanes PCIe 4.0 and what not.  You can get a Ryzer 3800x 16 cores form probably 500 or 600 bucks.  I love intel but their getting owned right now.

Most of there CPUs have coolers, this is the reason for the large box, to fit the coolers. Its also cheaper in the long run to reuse the design and just change a few of the printed letters & numbers instead of getting different packaging, redoing all the tooling and programming needed to print on the boxes etc. This is why.

Yeah why not? But not $20, $5 is right.

Boxes brings the resale value up.

If the CPU can be resell in $30-$50, with a complete box set you can get the top price.

You need a box to fit the cpu and nice stock cooler they include.

You up need the marketing to get people buy the product, bringing up the scale of economy. Lower price.

Intel does this too but charges even more.

Dont be be a clown. Obvious IBM shill imo

PLA (polylatic acid) is a plastic polymer that's fully biodegradable and food safe.

They are by products from plants, and is 100% natural.

There, problem solved.  So stop talking shit about materials that you know nothing about.

$20 is nothing to an AMD fan.

I'd gladly pay it myself for the Lisa Su signature, if I was looking for an R7 2700X.

Even TR packaging shouldn't cost $20 to manufacture anyways.

The only way I see it costing 20 dollars is if he's including the heatsink.

My statement was geared towards the conversation regarding plastic straws, which is why I quoted multiple people.  I wasn't targeting a single person, but those who were engaging in the debate.

And I did read your sentences, you told someone who was complaining about AMD's packaging being too expensive (even though they are most likely incorrect) that they sound like the kind of guy who would vote against plastic straws.  So you decided to use an irrelevant comparison to what is a real world problem, albeit a minor one.

But go ahead and take my last sentence as personally as you want, not my problem.

Also, you're welcome for the information.

Because lemons.

Spoiler

I thought that you may have found the information useful, but no, you're not involved in the conversation outside of telling them to cut it out, which I had no idea why you did until now.
