I love a dead silent PC, and water is the way to get there. I am thinking of doing a triple top rad and retaining my UT60 280 rad in the front of the case. The UT60 is a thick boi, so I am not 100% sure this will work out, but I would like this to be the outcome.

The Fractal Design R6 and S2 cases can hold 360 rads at the top and a "thicc" 280 at the front (so long as the top rad isnt also ridiculously "thicc".)

Hey guys, I am finally looking to get a new case. I have had my 350d for a while and its been great, but I am about to change up the rig and want to change up the radiator situation.

Just trying to get good ideas and inspiration for a case that is water cooling friendly, I love a dead silent PC, and water is the way to get there. I am thinking of doing a triple top rad and retaining my UT60 280 rad in the front of the case. The UT60 is a thick boi, so I am not 100% sure this will work out, but I would like this to be the outcome. I would change the entire system up with a new water block and pump, instead of the combo unit I have now... Also, full ATX required.

Thanks for the idea!!!!

I really like the Phanteks enthoo pro TG, but the HDD cages would have to be taken out for the kind of loop you want

Thanks man. Ordered an S2, a Alphacool XT45 for the top, 3 NF-A14 fans, EKD5/res combo, and the 2080 water block for the 2080 I just picked up for a steal....

So, the plan, assuming it all fits, my current UT60 up front, XT45 up top, and that should be beyond phenomenal cooling. I will also be swapping my 8700k @5ghz into this PC, long story short but I haven't cared enough to do that. I have a 8700k with a 1070 at my parents house (spend some weekends with them, so build a machine to game there), but I will be moving farther away and won't need that... so the 8700k and 2080 will pair pretty damn well together!

Thanks for the advice, that should work out perfectly!!!

No problem! Let me know how it all turns out[make a build log!], as I'm personally planning a similar build (although I think I'm doing to use thinner dual 360 rads, somewhere in the 35-45mm thickness range)

I really want the 420 to work, but boy o boy, I have no idea if it will. Also the front 60mm.... that may not be possible either lol. I am handy with a dremel but I would rather not do that.

420's fit at the top but you start to overhang the 280 real hard, so it cant be too thick. The ports for the 280 will have t be at the bottom.

Here's a 60mm 360 and a 27mm

Image result for define r6 watercooling

This one I believe is 45 or 50mm at the front (not including fans)

This is more or less what I'm shooting for

One option would be to mount the fans on the opposite side so only the RAD is on the inside of the case. You'll have to mod the front panel though to get air to the fans

I may not be opposed to that, but then the filter won’t be present anymore, correct? Maybe? I guess I could always just sell my 60mm 280 and pick up a thinner one. But that’s sort of annoying lol.

That's correct. The S2's filters are on on the sides, compared to how the R6 had a full filter across the face of the fans. You can definitely put a thinner fine mesh filter into a honeycomb style grill like that though

I got in touch with a guy on reddit who was able to get me some measurements. It looks like the removable opening in the front of the PSU shroud is about 175mm, which, until tomorrow night when I will be at my PC to perfectly measure... should work. 60mm rad + 25mm fan thickness + 78mm pump = 163mm lol. Its close, but may just fit without modification! If its really that close tho, even if it doesn't fit I can dremel the PSU shroud a bit with a nice little rubber molding strip to make it look fine.

So we should be ok, but I will know for sure hopefully in a few weeks once all the parts show up.
