100% disk usage on a new laptop

so by every youtubers review, I decided to purchase the Acer nitro 5 the newest one with a core i5 8th gen and 1050 (decided to go on a budget since I already have a desktop) and this is brand spanking new but randomly disk usage is at 100% how do I prevent this from happening this has 4gb of ram btw it might affect ur answers (i know it's too low but I already purchased a 16gb pack of ram)

Try to figure out in the task manager what is using up 100% of your disk.

4gb ram, Chrome thrashing the HDD, something different was expected?

 

Chrome can end up thrashing the HDD even with 8gb of ram.

Don't.  A fat 1tb SSD is a better way to spend the money.

 

If 1tb is out of your price range, 480-512gb is still better than optane.

Any kind of SSD that will work in the M.2 slot.

Depending on the M.2 it can support PCIe (NVME) or SATA.

 

And yes, there are SATA M.2 drives.

~256gb class drives are going to be ~$50.

M.2 slot has to support SATA specifically.  I have only seen docs mentioning PCIe for that laptop.

 

My Lenovo is PCIe only for example.

The nitro 5 supports both. Most models anymore support both. Supporting one standard only is on the rare side. Although Lenovo seems to be going this way.

I have a few of their sata ssds. They have been fine. I dont know how long they will last or that they will outperform anything else.
