Simple as it sounds, I've been PC Gaming for a while (coming up on 3 years) but when it comes to FPS' I feel more comfortable with my Xbone Controller than KB+M in spite of claims that people who play on controllers suck.

You can never be as accurate with two thumbs as two arms. It's simply fine motor skill limitations of the human body. People are good with controllers after a very long time of practice

It's hard to get good at, but going back to first person shooters on console rather than pc- Soooooo much easier.

Been playing FPS games with mouse and keyboard for 25 years. I only use controller to play such games like Fifa, street fighters or GTA.

I prefer the controller because I hate using WASD to move.  Far Cry 5 has poor controller support, so I have been using the keyboard instead.  I like using the mouse to aim, but have not really changed my mind on WASD.

I think that to a dedicated gamer, the peripheral that they are most comfortable has more overall benefit than the 'objective' but minute differences in various input forms. For example, I could probably be a tiny bit a faster if I switched to a mechanical keyboard, but the tall keys of most mechs would take me awhile to get used to, and overall the difference would be tiny. I prefer my flat scissors keys.

 

For some games, I certainly prefer a controller (action games especially). Others, mouse and keyboard works best.

 

For shooters, the ceiling of possibility is probably way higher with a mouse, but if you're not comfortable with it, you may not ever reach that.

 

The whole benefit of PC gaming? The choice is your's.

For me there's no question that a mouse is better for aiming. It's so much more intuitive and responsive.

But overall I really struggle with keyboard and mouse due to all the other controls. A stick is much better for moving. Plus I can never get used to using keyboard keys for all the other typical functions in a game - like crouching, jumping, grenade throwing, reload etc. For all these functions I feel that a controller is a million times better. I can never remember in the moment where the appropriate key is so I end up having to stop and take half a second to think about it, which you can't really do in most games. But with a controller all these things quickly become second nature and I don't have to think about it at all.
