Unless you are doing creative work, I wouldn't go 4k. Look for high refresh rate instead. Then that pretty much opens a large field though.

xps 15. high end ultrabook. w/ gtx 1050 ti

As a biased XPS 15 9560 owner, I can confirm this laptop was the best $2300 CAD (after taxes) I ever spent on a computer - even more so than my desktop, at least for everyday all-round work & play tasks. Sure, my desktop is a better overall machine for gaming or photography, but something about quality Windows laptops makes me want to get work done just as much as those MacBook Pro users sitting in the local coffee shop. My model is equipped with an i7-7700HQ, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe storage, a 1080p FHD non-touch display, and a GTX 1050, powered by the larger 97 WHr battery - newer models have a 1050 Ti, I believe.

To be clear, Dell's not the only prosumer / semi-professional portable business laptop manufacturer out there, as Lenovo's 330, 330S, and X1 Extreme laptops offer the same kind of portability & power in the same quality of chassis as Dell's XPS series. I'm sure HP has some ProBook's as well, but I haven't bothered with them in a while simply because I'm more familiar with Dell & Lenovo's small business and prosumer options at this time.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | Koodo - 75GB Data + Data Rollover for $45/month
Laptop: Dell XPS 15 9560 (the real 15" MacBook Pro that Apple didn't make) Tablet: iPad Mini 5 | Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 10.1
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Im weary recommending the X1 Extreme to anybody. There are 3 OEM's for the keyboard and track pad. Only one of each produce a quality part. They also seem to be the rarest...

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Wall Of Fame (Informative people/People I like): @Glenwing @DrMacintosh @Schnoz @TempestCatto @LogicalDrm @Dan Castellaneta

Wow, OK, good to know - I did not realize Lenovo's once-flagship laptop had changed so much over the years.

Yep, went downhill around the time they swapped from OneConnect to USB-C
