144hz monitor with 60hz displayed?

Hi i have a 144hz ACER Predator GN246HLBbi and im currently using a dual dvi cable as the dmi only shows 60hz which i was using. This monitor has only vga dvi and hdmi slots and im really confused as to why its not showing 144hz with the dual dvi i bought

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 @ 3.2Ghz 

Motherboard: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC 

RAM: Team Vulcan DDR4 16GB (2x8GB)

GPU: Zoatac Gtx 1070 8GB 

Case: CoolerMaster Masterbox Lite 5 RGB

Storage: 2TB Toshiba HDD, 120GB WD Green SSD 

PSUGigabyte P650B

Go into your Nvidia Control Panel, and create a custom resolution running 1080p 144Hz.

i could probably send you my pc considering how much youve helped

Yeah I was confused the same way when I got my 144hz display, just make sure you change the refresh rate under the PC box. I think it's the second box of drop down options.
