Got it! Yeah I just left it off for the time being, but I'll start trying to find a good clock for it today. Thanks again for the advice!

You can try turning XMP back on and downclocking the RAM to 3000 or 2933. Having the RAM on stock JEDEC 2133/2400 limits your Ryzen a lot.

191x7 got a reaction from NinJake in What are the best headphones for PC gaming
Just headphones aren't the solution. And there is no "single best".

If you want the lowest latency, using the onboard audio chip (usually Realtek and that means a modern Realtek like the 1200 series or newer) is recommended.
Suppose you want the best audio experience (but a bit higher latency) with perhaps hard-to-drive headphones/IEM-s (high impedance or low sound-to-noise ratio or both). In that case, a decent DAC AMP unit or a stack (separate AMP and DAC one-on the other) is recommended, and eventually a good dongle DAC with inbuilt AMP.

Then you have to decide if you want open-back or closed-back headphones. or IEMs. or both to interchange.
In-ear monitors (IEM-s) sit between open and closed-back headphones when it comes to sound, but they do not cause "gamer hair" since there's no part that would sit on top of the head and push your hair down.

Soundwise, you want gear that doesn't limit you as the player and lets you hear all the stuff you're supposed to hear.
And that's for headphones - Sennheiser HD 560S, HD 490 Pro,  Fiio JT1, Beyerdynamic DT 990, DT 900 Pro X, 1990, HarmonycDyne Zeus
For IEMs models like - QKZ x HBB, Truthear Nova, Moondrop Lan, Truthear Crinacle Zero, Simgot EM6L or better.
Check Fresh Reviews for the reviews and comparisons, he does for Apex, Valorant, CoD, and RS6.

As for the AMP&DAC, I'd say you'd be fine with an Akliam PD4, Truthear Shio, Moondrop Dawn Pro, or something similar.

Some games have an option to limit the frame rates, this is the best way.

You can use MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner to limit your frame rates overall.

AMD has the option too in the driver software, but if you set it global and have a game profile without the limit the game will not be limited unless you either edit the profile or delete the profile.

Just get a 5700X3D or 5800X3D. Pretty much 7700X level of performance, but smoother due to more L3 cache.

    What's your resolution, which monitor?

Also, the 5800XT hasn't been released, there are just a 5800X and a 5800X3D. AMD is supposedly releasing AM4 XT CPU-s soon.

Do not use UserBenchmark for anything meaningful, that tool and site are almost useless and misleading.

    Looking at the system, it's quite optimized for 1080p, maybe a newer/stronger GPU would do better, but I wouldn't recommend above a 3060Ti/4060 or Radeon 6600XT/6650XT/7600/7600XT/6700 for 1080p with a 5800X. A 5700X3D or 5800X3D could do a 4070 or RX 6800/7700XT.
If you're on 1440p, the 5800X can handle up to RX 6800XT/7800XT or RTX 4070 SUper, 4070Ti.

191x7 got a reaction from PDifolco in R9 3900x stay or go?
    You can do a few upgrades;
    a) a completely new platform like a Ryzen 7000 series CPU, 32GB DDR5, and a B650 board
    b) 32GB DDR4 3600 RAM, keeping the 3900X CPU
    c) DDR4 3600 and a 5700X
    d) DDR4 3200 and a 5800X3D

2133 is simply too slow for Zen 2 and Zen 3, limits the CPU a lot.

    His post states 3000 and that's fine for a 5800X3D. With a regular Zen3 I'd aim for 3333, 3400, 3600 or 3800 RAM but for an X3D 2933/3000/3200 is just fine.
His signature shows an i7 6700K and ddr4 2133, maybe that was the previous machine, and maybe now he's running DDR4 3000 at 2133 because the XMP (DOCP) profiles aren't loaded?

@Sumtinwon is your DOCP (XMP) profile loaded in the Bios? If you have DDR4 3000 but running JEDEC spec 2133 you are severely limiting the 3900X. Please check your Bios settings. And add a few CPU-Z screenshots here.

    Hi all,
my first post here, so I hope I guessed the right section.

For those unfamiliar with it, LCZero is a deep neural network-based chess engine and, I know I'm asking a bit, but it would be really useful to have a benchmark on it.
That way, even for those who are not professional chess players like myself, it would be possible to assemble a relatively high-performance computer at low cost.

The software is completely free and open source and even already has a built-in command-line bechmark.

Your CPU might be a slight bottleneck for your GPU.  The 3900X is 2 3600, or, a better explanation, you have 4 sets (CCD-s) of 3 cores with a huge latency between the CCD-s.
A 5800X3D or 5700X3D would be the ideal gaming upgrade for you. A 5700X would do too, but it wouldn't be a great fit for a stronger GPU.
The X3D-s have 1 CCD with 8 cores (so no huge latency between the cores), the cores are stronger and they have a lot of L3 cache which affects many games.

IMO, the best tool for the job and coincidentally takes the least setup (at least compared to the tinkering mess of setting up RTSS just the way you want it) is Intel PresentMon.

One button combo to turn on the overlay and you're presented with the most useful graphs, especially the GPU Busy metric. The best tool to show CPU limitations affecting GPU performance.

191x7 got a reaction from Tetras in Is my planned pc upgrade going to be significant?
Yes, but try to get the 5600 or 5600X, those are way stronger. The 5500 is a 5600G without the integrated GPU, meaning it has less cache than the regular 5600 or 5600X.

Also, beware, there are multiple RTX 3060 that perform differently. Only the 12GB model is the true card.
I would recommend looking at an AMD alternative, you can get more performance for the same money.
