As long as its not going to get wet, or get enough sunlight to cause thermal problems.

Battery backups are great to help shield PC's from wiring issues. I run all my expensive electronics on them and firmly believe their longevity is increased for doing so.

Ahhh yes, i didnt even think of that.
Glad you shared, its a good reminder to consider these options when dealing with CPU issues.

But also, this was CPU related then as the settings you changed allowed the CPU to run better for your application.
It was CPU bound, but it was also fixable by adjusting settings.
Good for you on finding this. Enjoy your gaming.

Removing the battery and unplugging the power is not enough to clear the bios.
There are capacitors in the PSU and on the mobo that will still be charged enough to power the bios enough to hold the settings.
Waiting for them to discharge on their own can take many hours sometimes.

To remedy this, while the batter is out, and while the power cord is unplugged, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
This will result in a cleared bios every time as pressing the power button instantly drains all residual power.
Often when you do this, you will see fans bump or lights flicker just a bit, that is the residual power in the capacitors being used up.

You should be ok using XMP, i would suggest trying it again, but be ready to reset the bios if needed.
Again, rather then letting it set for an hour, press the power button to drain the residual power.
    Much quicker. 🙂

I guess its obvious what i was looking at for a brand. 🙂

    Thanks for correcting me.
This is why i posted, for information like this. To correct my assumptions.

I am finding the AX860i to be the most compelling PSU for my situation.
It seems to be made with quality components. I say this as im trusting in the PSU tier list.
    I like the diagnostic features.
I like the real time monitoring and control.
The price is a bit high, but the overall value seems proportionate also.
Now to find one available sometime in the next couple of months. haha

@seon123, your post added nothing constructive to the situation. You just seem to want to tear me down. Your post before that, nothing but "Bruh" was even less useful. I am curious to see your response to this though. 🙂

When upgrading e.g. your GPU, you would look at the performance, noise, various features, components used, pricing, and maybe things like the size. Why would it be any different for a PSU?
Look at a proper review, and you'll find how the PSU performs (e.g. regulation, ripple, transient response, hold up time), how loud it is at various loads, features (modularity, software monitoring, toggling multi/single rail OCP etc), protections, what components are used, pricing compared to other PSUs, and the physical dimensions. And whatever else matters for your specific build.

You asked for an example, and then you reply with that when you are presented with one

Afaik, this would be the primary hold up cap(s), i.e. among the least important caps on the PSU.

That depends on how the PSU is designed, not on what brand has their name on the caps. The standard rated full load temperature for normal PSUs that are not absolute garbage or very high end is 40C, which is indicated.

Electronics cleaner can seem to leave a sticky residue if there was something on the electronics that the cleaner started to dissolve and remove, but not enough cleaner was used.
I suspect that you might live in a household that smokes or vapes?
Either of those often leave residue on the internals of a system.
When trying to clean them, it often results in a decent mess as the smoke/vape residue dissolves.
It takes a lot of effort to clean a card that has smoke, vape, or other such residue on it.

Whatever was on the card, it sounds like your cleaner did not remove it, but only soften it.
This could very well have resulted in a short, and smoke/vape residue is not going to clean easily from the addition of water.

At this point i would suggest you post the exact name of the electronics cleaner you used so we can determine if it might be safe to use it again to continue cleaning the card.
There is a slim chance that if you can get the card 100% clean, it may work again.
However, you could also kill the rest of the system putting it back in.

Again, post exactly what you used so we can properly analyze the situation and help.
Otherwise we can only speculate and its hard to give solid suggestions based on speculation.

Distilled water is considerably safer than normal water btw as it will not leave behind hard water deposits.

What kind of cleaning spray exactly?
If it was not made for electronics it will, well, result in things not working as you can see.

And then washing it with water, if it was not distilled water and/or was not dried properly, i can almost guarantee it left behind hard water deposits', which are minerals, which are conductive.

Considering your situation, i would say you killed your card.

If you case is getting hot, cool the case. This will also help the GPU as it cant cool its self if there is no cool air to use.
What case do you have an how many fans do you have and at what locations are the fans?

Don't be a dick. Obviously OP doesnt know whats going on. Be nice about explaining it to them.

    @Manpants
While your mobo may have a video out, your processor has to actually provide the video capabilities.
Since you dont have a GPU, and your CPU does not have integrated graphics, you essentially have no video processor install which is why you get the GPU beep code.

cr8tor got a reaction from flammable_gpu in RTX3070 short circuited and created a small flame.
You did it by putting another GPU in and testing.
Works fine, visible damage on the bad GPU confirms it died.
Like bombastinator said, eyeball everything and look for other burn marks.
But chances are that since it booted back up with another GPU, you are fine.

You cant, its part of the OS (again).
Removing it very well may break things.
Set chrome to default, delete the icons, and ignore it.
That's what i do when i install an OS and i never really see it again.
    Even when i browse lttstore.com. 😉

And even if you do remove it, updates will put it back.

Watch for an antitrust lawsuit against M$ again for this. They were literally sued for doing this with Internet Explorer, and it amazes me the are doing it again.

    But hey, fixed is fixed.
I have straitened pins on mobos and cpu's before with good luck.
I have a machine in use right now that i had to straighten 5 pins on after the cpu was dropped on the socket.
It worked for 5+ years now. Good little machine.

if that doesnt work, create a log file for us.

    Download HWiNFO here - https://www.hwinfo.com/

    How to create a log:
Open HWiNFO and choose sensors only.
In the bottom right there is an icon that looks like a spreadsheet with a green plus on it.
Click that button to start logging, the green plus will switch to a red X to let you know its saving data.
It will also ask you for a file name and where to save it. I save them to my desktop, name it whatever you want.
Start the log and start the game.
When it locks up/resets, it will leave the log file where you specified.
You now have a log file, please share it.

How to view the log file:
You can view the log using the GenericLogViewer addon here https://www.hwinfo.com/add-ons/
Download, extract, run GenericLogViewer.exe, click the open file button in the top right and point it to the log file you made above.
Use the dropdown in the upper right to choose which category to view

    Agreed 100%

Dont tell them you did it, its a normal function to update the bios. Doing so (correctly) is a common practice and its shameful for them to use this as an out to a warranty claim.
And you asked about it, you didnt say "i did this".
So tell them that due to their advice not to, you did not do it. End of story on that.
I dont like to lie to support reps, but when companies attempt to avoid warranty claims with things like this, well, i lie away.

I would update the bios and test, and if nogo, send it back to them.
Hell, if its new enough, simply return it and order a new one?

Also, whats the part number for your ram so we can verify its qualified on the sytem?
