BlackManINC reacted to schwlfty in PC freezes while gaming
Update: I got a new motherboard + CPU and don't seem to have any issues anymore!

Ok unfortunately looks that didn't fix the freezing. I ran Memtest86 again and it has errors but freezes before completing. The OCCT Power stress test also still freezes.
I think at this point it has to be a problem with the CPU or MOBO (which would also explain why swapping the other parts never fully fixed the problem). I'll first try swapping the RAM and if that doesn't help then I'll try rebuilding with a new MOBO + CPU + 750W PSU.

Oh wow - just ran sfc /scannow and it found + successfully repaired some corrupted files. I assumed since it's a fresh windows install there wouldn't be anything corrupted but I guess not. I attached a copy of the CBS log.
Maybe unrelated but I also noticed in Reliability Monitor I have this "Controls the DTS audio processing object" event that occurs many times per day. I updated my audio drivers but that didn't seem to help. I attached a screenshot of that event.

BlackManINC reacted to Abzilla in All games crash within 10 minutes of opening
So I have finally gotten my pc to fully boot and I have checked the CPU temps beforehand. The CPU wouldn't go below 60C in anyway and would generally stay in the 70s. After updating the bios, my CPU temps idle at 35-45C!! It occasionally spikes to 50C ish when browsing pages, but now it isn't sticking at 70-80C! Although, I need to keep the liquid temp in consideration. In my previous pics, the liquid temp was at 50C whereas now it is at 30C (likely as I have just booted up). I will test this out and see if games play like normal.
I have also currently left XMP off and will turn it back on after stability has been confirmed.

I opened tickets with AMD, Asrock. I realized I reached out Asrock back then but they never reached back out to me. lol

BlackManINC reacted to Donut417 in What do I need to use a Moca adapter?
Could be, but Ive unscrewed coax many times and never had issues. It might be a defective adapters. I know some gateways offer moca support but that might also not be fully supported by the ISP, so if you were using your ISP's gateway as one of the adapters, that might have been the issue. Could also be interference on the coax. Could be excessive splits in the coax, as each splitter and larger splitters screw with the singal. Unfortunately with any Ethernet "Alternatives" there are a number of reason they might not work.

BlackManINC reacted to Eigenvektor in Apipa Address vs the PC name
It's not quite clear from the post what the actual issue is you're trying to solve here. Since the machine has an 169.254.x.x address it means it hasn't gotten an IP from a DHCP and has assigned itself an IP.
When you ping a host name, that name is first resolved to an IP address, typically using a DNS server. Since the machine has no proper network connection it probably recognized its own name, and resolved it to 127.0.0.1/localhost.

BlackManINC got a reaction from Donut417 in What do I need to use a Moca adapter?
😂 Fuck it, I ended up just wiring a 100ft Cat6 ethernet cable down to the modem and called it a day. I have no idea whats going on with MOCA.

It could also be a bug in the Comcast gateway. My friend had issues a while back with port forwarding. I dont use Comcast's hardware choosing to buy my own so I really cant help there. Make sure you read all the documentation with the adapter as well, Im pretty sure there is a pairing process. Another thing Id try is to reboot the gateway, some times a reboot just fixes things.

I doubt that info would be included on your account, a phone rep is likely not going to know. If it were me I’d go find where the cable comes in and check.

Tell them its 8.8.8 8.
See what happens 🙂

What. Your Ip is assigned by your ISP. Don't share it via Mail.

BlackManINC reacted to Skiiwee29 in ISP asking for my public IP? - Vancouver area
no, do not send them it via email. Call them if you think it may be a valid request, but they should be able to know what your public IP is since they assign it to you.

BlackManINC reacted to Donut417 in What do I need to use a Moca adapter?
You need to make sure you have a Moca filter installed on the line coming in from the cable co. This is to reflect the Moca signal back in and to prevent it from leaving your home. The other thing you may need to check if Moca is enabled in your modem, because it’s probably not on by default.

They're pretty much just plug-n-play. If you want more info and to see a bit about how they work etc, this is good video.

BlackManINC got a reaction from Haddock in Windows Bugcheck Restart
@Haddock Do you have a spare GPU to try? That would certainly help to rule out the culprit being the GPU.

BlackManINC got a reaction from Haddock in Windows Bugcheck Restart
🤔 Well, if Judgement is far more demanding than Cyberpunk for instance and you haven't had any issues with the latter, then have you tried simply lowering the graphics settings in the game? Are you gaming at 4K? What are your full system specs anyway? We should start there, if this is a full system crash.

BlackManINC reacted to Cyberat in Windows Bugcheck Restart
Oh, please read more on Cyberpunk 2077, it is a crashy, unfinished game that remained crashy after all these updates. Tries to do too much with too many features.
More of an experiment than a game really. Do not measure your hardware by it.
But I always said, the "latest" is neither the best driver for gaming, nor the most stable, across all brands. Find the most stable.
I am not that familiar with Judgement, but you maybe right on that it is also a crashy game.

BlackManINC reacted to DG458 in New pc crashes under load.
So I downloaded a few more tools instead of just afterburner. I don't know if you can see gpu vram temp or not but I couldn't find it so I got TechPowerUp GPU-Z. How hot is safe ram temps and can it cause the instability issues that I'm having? Vram is getting as hot as 112C and "Hot spot" on gpu seeing as high as 98C with the overall gpu at 89C under full load stress tests. I'm also worried that because of the way this case is configured that it's baking the ddr4 system ram directly on the other side of the small wall that seperates the two. Can hot system ram cause random errors as well?

BlackManINC reacted to Shimejii in What UPS should I get for my PC?
Most of the ones under 400$ will probably get you around 20 minutes up to an hour at most, and that is just based on your desktop, not including monitors etc.

BlackManINC reacted to Votivee in What UPS should I get for my PC?
https://www.amazon.com/APC-Protector-Back-UPS-Including-DataTraveler/dp/B07YBJRFWG
I've got this, it holds my 3080 and 12900k long enough to save my game/work and safely shut down. I have two monitors but only hook one up to the battery. I don't know a ton about UPSs but I do know to look for one with a SineWave system.
It would be a good system for your setup, you could probably go a little cheaper depending on your goals. Personally I would only look for something to hold your computer over 5-10 minutes unless you need extended uptime for some reason. Save your work, shut down.
If you're in the US wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday coming up. UPSs can get stupid discounts.

BlackManINC got a reaction from Guidosaur in PC black screen restarting randomly in lower demanding games
@Guidosaur Did your crashes only occur after updating to Windows 11? And yeah, I'm not a power supply guru, but I'd say you are indeed pushing your luck with it just considering your GPU's manufacturer recommends no less than a 750 Watt power supply.

BlackManINC got a reaction from BiotechBen in Not getting a display AGAIN
😌 Yeah, its a bummer, but in a sense, its a relief. If something were to shit itself, I'd rather it be something that's easy to install, unlike a power supply or god forbid the motherboard itself. I'd be fucked right now if it was the motherboard, for sure.

BlackManINC reacted to BiotechBen in Not getting a display AGAIN
Never used one myself but have seen them in use. It's looking like the GPU is a dud.
