TomR19 got a reaction from Haro in Quick question regarding uninstalling / upgrading RAM
Thanks for the quick answer TofuHaroto. I'm a big fan of Japanese culture hence my channel's name on Youtube.
TBH I did a teardown for the PC Im talking about. Its my wife's PC and Im gonna put it in a different PC case and I thought I might as well put in faster RAM that I had lying around. I'm gonna build it today.

I work in a school as my day job here in the UK but in my free time I do some gaming and tech videos on Youtube inspired by LTT and Jayztwocents etc., its not a monetised channel.
Just want feedback from ppl on how I am doing as a noob.
If you got a sec please rate my work in the comments and stay tuned for the build video later today or tomorrow.
Im just waiting for a delivery from Amazon for some Sleeved cable extensions...

I think the BIOS will reconize that there is new RAM and reset it's settings.

Just to be sure i'd disable DOCP before removing the old sticks. Otherwise it might not boot and you'd have to clear CMOS to get back into the BIOS with the new RAM.

    You should be fine
Just put the new ram stick in

I've used LE in the past. I know most people don't care. I know there is automation. It is also because I use ECC certs rather than RSA certs. Currently LE doesn't support ECC certs.

I ended up stretching the budget and getting the phanteks p400a. I have 2 Noctua airflow fans ( NF-S12B 1200rpm Model) on the way. I am thinking of moving the middle rgb fan from the front to make an exhaust fan (probably top ) and put on noctua fan in the middle and the other as another exhaust fan.
Do you think that's a good idea or should I just mount both noctua fans as exhaust fans or some other way?

CIT is a legit brand.... But they're one of those Chinese retailers that's likely reusing a lot of case tooling from other manufacturers and using thinner materials to cut down on cost.

I have never heard of CiT and judging from the cases they have listed they are cheap, like really cheap, all of them are under $40. It seems a little to good to be true to me.

TomR19 reacted to SpookyCitrus in WTF is the deal with Assassins Creed Odyssey
AC: Odyssey is very CPU intensive, you are likely bottlenecked by your CPU. I've seen many complain about this same issue that have a similar build to you(most have a Ryzen 5 2600/ Intel equivalent or lesser CPU). You can try a few things to maybe alleviate the issue.
    Overclock the CPU.
Set AC: Odyssey to High Priority in task manager.
Set your power plan to High Performance if it is not already.
Check for any updates regarding the chipset or bios.
Apparently the graphics setting regarding clouds in the game is a performance hog so try lowering that as well.
    Play at a capped 55 to 60fps.
If all of these options do not fix the issue you may want to look into upgrading your processor, the rest of your system is up to date and should be fine for the game and at least the next few years. The two CPUs I would recommend are the Ryzen 5 3600 or the Ryzen 7 3700x either should help out with this game and give a decent boost on everything you play. Your motherboard should be able to handle either just fine with a bios update.

I would honest go for 4K monitor it make the games look so much better. Would make you more immerse in the game world. Which for me is essential for single player games.

TomR19 reacted to NineEyeRon in Choice of High refresh vs higher resolution for a open world gamer
Open world games like Skyrim etc are visual and story based, combat is a part of it but difficulty can be set to account for that. It’s not like playing against other people with real skills.

I would recommend higher resolution and visual quality.

CSGO and alike where the background is only something you see when you die go high refresh all day long.

If you can get both, 1440p and high refresh rate then why not.

There are compromises if you go down the best of both route. I will be as I play Esports and Skyrim.

If you are all about the visual stuff then get  something with great colour, high res etc but high refresh is a nice to have.

Skyrim for example is capped at 60FPS max and going over that with a mod messes stuff up bad.

TomR19 reacted to Spotty in Final choice of power supply good choice? or not ???
Not at all. You can absolutely ignore the GPU manufacturers claims about what power supply is required since they do not know what system or power supply you are using. You could be using a 15 year old Bombtastic "700W" PSU that can only deliver 300W for all they know. They don't know if you have 300W dual socket Xeon CPUs or if you have a 30W Athlon 3000G CPU. The graphics card manufacturers recommended power supply figure is pulled out of their ass and they really should stop putting it on the box because it's completely meaningless. All they should have is an estimated power consumption figure for the card itself and how many PCIe connectors it requires.

You won't void the warranty of either the GPU or the PSU by not adhering to the recommended figures.

Outervision is full of shit, they intentionally inflate their estimates to drive sales of more expensive higher wattage power supplies. The 750W Corsair TXM "Recommended Power Supply" you see there is an advertisement. The link shown is an Amazon affiliate link where if you click on it and buy the power supply they recommend they get paid. That's how they make their money.

Use the CX550M. If you get any annoying coil whine or if it shuts down under load (it shouldn't) then you can consider replacing the PSU. If it works without any issue then you just saved yourself 90 pounds.

yes. junction temperature is a safety measure to prevent components from dying because of to much heat (meaning it's a setting kind of)

TomR19 reacted to Mister Woof in New GPU high tempp normal???!!!
It's a bunch of sensors and they take the highest of them IIRC.

That's the spec AMD says 100-110 is normal.

The memory temperature is not reported in Adrenaline, but it's also important. It's one of the things that ASUS screwed the pooch on in their first TUF design.

I'm playing on 1440p monitor, but haven't played a lot of demanding games yet.
But the drivers say my average fps on Final Fantasy 15 is 72 fps. I'm running the game 1440p everything on highest, nvidia stuff turned off.
    Csgo gets 350fps 1440p low-medium settings.

i don't think it's worth upgrading now. wait until you need 32gb or until you upgrade to ryzen 4000 series that will hopefully support higher ram speeds. going from 2666 to 3000 or 3200 won't make tat big of a difference.

It's not necessary imo, I mean, you might be able to squeeze some more performance out of your CPU with a 3200MHz kit but nothing groundbreaking or even noticeable probably.
I'd suggest waiting until you feel like you actually need more than 16GB and then getting a 2x16GB kit, or maybe until you upgrade to Ryzen 3000 or better.

Btw, even if there are 4 memory sticks, they're still running in dual-channel.

I've had 5700xt since December and only have had 2 black screens during that time.

There are of course people with problems still, but hopefully AMD will fix more and more of the bugs now that they've released all the new features.
