    Electric Violet (Imgur Link)

This has been an excellent experience, start to finish. I learned a ton, messed up a bunch, but at the end of the day I have a machine that I am excited to sit down in front of and game on, produce and edit with, and have as a showpiece and something to be proud of.

    Here is the PCPartPicker list.
Sure, the 3800X isn't the best processor on the market, but it has been really fun to overclock and I am very pleased with its performance. Without going into too much detail, the AMD platform has a little bit of sentimental value for me being the processor I was given by a friend (an R5 1600) in a bad part of my life and brought me back to PC gaming and into a spectacular hobby and excellent community. I'm happy to finally call this build complete. Thank you all for coming on this journey with me, and I look forward to discussing it with all of you in the comments!

And final look with a cover over the fans for the GPU.

I know its a risky move with a full Noctua themed build but i have wanted it for so long just not been sure how to execute it.

The Parts are my old ones:

    Case: Fractal Design Meshify C
    Mobo: Asus Prime z370 -p
    CPU: Intel 8600k
    GPU: Gigabyte 1080 windforce
    PSU: Corsair RM650x
    Ram: Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000Mhz CL15 Vengeance
    Cooler NH-D15
Accessories: Cooler Master Vertical GPU holder + Risercard

A rough idea in photoshop and some ideas later this is the sketch of how i wanted it at the end. (No im not that good with photoshop, i know)

First off to see how the colors match and a small mod to the power button.

Then its off to paint the rest off the parts and puck it back together.

And for a complete look with some noctua fans.

It can be useful in limited circumstances, for example with deferring writes for QLC-based drives, but a modern OS will already have write caching enabled for that drive. All it does is ensure a certain amount of cache while the OS will dynamically allocate instead. This generally is less efficient in the use of system RAM as the OS will cache system-wide, it adds more overhead as there's double caching (for the drive separate from the OS's still-existing caching), and it increases the chance of data loss because you're using another layer of volatile memory that again is separate from system caching.

I made a case to submerge my desktop in thermal oil. Instead of the glass or plexi aquariums, I preferred a stainless steel case, because of thermal conductivity

With a few heatsinks attached to the side, I don't need any radiators or pumps

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/STkZgdBR84dQWf8U6

    Experiment conclusions:

    - Leak test before placing it on a wooden floor !

    - When I leave it folding@home for more than 2 days, temperatures stabilize at 45°C, and the front side heats up more than the rear underside. I threw in a small 12V drain pump with a piece of garden hose ( No, I'm not into esthetics) to even out the temperatures.

-I wanted to keep all components under 60°C. GPU under load max 55°C; 10°C more then the oil temp. SSD's and RAM stay at oil temperature I suppose. I have no means of measuring them.

*Only the CPU cooling is a failure. Onder heavy load (2 days folding) I got to 83°C at 4.3Ghz. The cooler master fins are too close to each other, so the oil doens't pass trough. I am considering two options:
1: destroy the cooler master by cutting away 90% of the alu fins, and letting the oil make as much contact as possible directly with te heat pipes.
2: replace with a cheap AIO water cooler, where I dismount the radiator and use the integrated pump as a circulatory pump.

Meganter reacted to VincentVolaju in Finally finished my build, thanks everyone for the help!
Hey everyone! So I finished my build a couple hours ago and it seems like everything is working fine. The noise is a bit more than I expected, not sure if it's the 120mm fans, or the GPU but it isn't terrible, just a louder "humming" sound than I thought. I also haven't got to test many things yet. I downloaded Steam and Bannerlord, and ran the customs battle with high settings and 1000 person battle size. It only got 35-45fps during the big 500 vs 500 fights, but I plan to tweak the options a bit to try and get it to be 60+ FPS at all times. That's the only demanding test I've done so far. Everything else has been trying to install drivers, windows updates, and random programs like 7-zip, VLC player etc. I should probably get some kind of benchmark program and something to check the temps of my CPU and GPU etc., but I'm not really sure what I would use for that.

I wanted to thank everyone on here who helped me out over the last 2 weeks. I made quite a few topics asking questions about which parts to get as well just general random questions relating to building a PC. Everyone was super helpful and I feel pretty satisfied with the PC. So, thanks everyone!!!

So, I'm a carpenter, movie buff and casual armchair gamer. I'm not into sitting at a desk, using a kb and mouse to competitively game. I use a controller.. As a result my rig is more of a media centre than anything else.
I hate the inevitable mess of cables and boxes everywhere, so I thought I'd build myself a little something.
    See the photos!
It's still a work in progress. The plywood tops will be replaced by oak when I get some more, the PC drawer (yes, I said drawer!) will have a tempered glass panel on the side (hence the hole that's there atm), the AV receiver will have speaker mesh covering it as soon as I find some that matches my speakers, and the existing speaker mesh needs a clean..
    Features:
Solid oak construction, this one is made entirely out of off-cuts from my workshop and an old ATX case I I pulled out of skip and  butchered for the MB mounting.
The left cupboard is a drawer! housing the PC, making it easy pull out for maintenance and cleaning etc.. This area has a though-flow air flow system, pulling air up from floor level and ejecting it out of the back of the case.
The centre shelf is obviously for my fantastic Denon AVR receiver, with two 40mm fan at the rear, pulling cool air over the receiver. The bit below is actually a magnetically held removable panel covering up the cable management area.
The right side cupboard houses my sub-woofer and router. This cupboard has no base, so the down-firing sub can still work properly. (Amazingly it seems to amplify the sub somehow!)
The monitor is held in place by a single-pole vesa mount from behind the centre speaker.
All of the hinges and drawer runners are soft close!

I'll upload some more photos as I complete it.

I take commissions, so if anyone wants a similar or more bespoke cabinet, with or without a PC pre-installed, feel free to contact me. I live and work in the UK, so bear that in mind re: shipping..

That’s it then, we are done, here it is!

The Pure Base 500DX on launch day with a completed revamp of our Pure Pastel Build! We cannot thank be quiet! enough for getting this case to us before release.

    As a showcase build, the specs are as following;

be quiet! Pure base 500DX be quiet! Pure Wings 2 120mm PWM Fans x6 ASUS X570-E Strix Gaming AMD 3700X TeamGroup Delta RGB 4 x 4GB 3000 MHz TeamGroup Delta RGB SSD 250 GB ASUS RTX2060 06G Alphacool XT30 240mm Radiator Alphacool Eisblock XPX Aurora CPU Block Alphacool Eisblock GPX-N Plexi Light RTX GPU Block & Backplate Alphacool Cape Corp Coolplex HF Metall 15 Custom End Caps Alphacool Fittings Mayhems Pastel V2 – Blue Premixed Custom BitFenix cable extensions EVGA 850W G+

So another project crossed off the list. We love how this turned out, compared to Pure Pastel though, we are not sure which one we would take over the other.
We shot this in both white and blue RGB for a bit of variation and the blue really makes the system pop.

We have also done a review of this case and can tell you, as always, the quality from be quiet! is fantastic.
The Pure Base 500DX really is a lovely little case and I am sure that we will most certainly be putting together another build in one sometime in the future.

Time for another update as we move on with the revision of Pure Pastel. We have been stripping down the old system so there are no glory shots here as we just needed to get things moving along quite quickly. We soon got to the point of having both Pure Pastel and the new DX case stripped and ready to transfer over many of the components. TeamGroup has shipped the new RAM and SSDs for the build so they will hopefully be here ready for our next update.

My better half wasnt too happy with me using the dining room table for swapping over parts, our Alphacool mat helped protect the table a bit and give me a decent work area.

We didn’t really take a look at the Alphacool XT30 240mm radiator before and its paired with the be quiet! Pure Wings 2 120mm fans for the build. With the radiator out it needs a bit of a clean due to dust build-up, something the new DX should help with given the better airflow and dust filtration.

We also used the Alphacool VPP755 for Pure Pastel, this has now been removed from the old system and the mounting brackets will be painted as it will be on show this time around.

Making some progress we have the ASUS X570-E Gaming, AMD 3700X and Pure Wings 2 120mm fans all moved over to the new case. We do need to change the orientation of the Alphacool CPU block for our loop though and reapply thermal paste while we are at it.

Next up was to bang in the ASUS RTX 2060 to gauge what we had in mind would work. We asked TeamGroup for two SSDs with the plan being to fill both of the front bays. While playing around though, the Alphacool pump would not fit where we had in mind so we to use one of the available bays to mount it. We have also dropped the GPU into the lower slot to make the bottom SSD bay more visible and add some more room for the loop.

For today I will leave you with a picture of some of the Alphacool fittings we will be using after they have been cleaned up. Hopefully our next update will have most of the loop installed and bring you some info on the parts coming from TeamGroup.
