Hello everyone! I live in Japan. I have roughly $1200-$1500 USD to spend on a laptop. I plan to use it for both work (powerpoint, word, web browsing etc.) and gaming (CK2, Bannerlord, RDR2, KCD etc.) I've looked at a few on Amazon Japan, but a bit unsure about a few thing. Should I go with an Intel 10 series laptop, since they seem to have better GPUs in them? Or is getting something like a Ryzen 4800 H / HS better? Whats the minimum GPU I should get, 1660ti? 2060 Max-Q? Is 16gb of memory kind of a must for laptops nowadays, or is 8 still fine? Considering I

Hey everyone, so I finished my build the other day. I've got a Ryzen 5 3600 on a MSI B450M Mortar Max mobo. I updated windows, downloaded drivers for my RX 5600 XT, mobo chipset, audio etc. But I haven't yet updated my bios. In my bios screen it says my bios version is " E7B89AMS.260" and the build date is 12/30/2019. I went to the MSI website and under the AMI Bios download section it says the latest version is 7B89v27 and the release date was 4/24/2020. So, about a week or so ago. I was wondering, is there any

CPU cooler for a Ryzen 3600 on an M-ATX board in a small case?
VincentVolaju replied to VincentVolaju's topic in Cooling
I've never done that before, not exactly sure how to do it. If I goofed it up, could I damage my system / CPU? Budget anything under $100. I mean it would be great to get one for $20-30, but realistically, I'm guessing a cheap one wouldn't do much better than the stock one that comes with the 3600 right? Case is an Antec VSK10 Window -
Hey everyone, I think I'd like to get a different cooler for my Ryzen 5 3600 and replace the current stock cooler that came with it. When not playing any games or watching videos, the CPU temp varies wildly between 40-65degrees. When playing Bannerlord for about 30-40minutes it got up to 82degrees. After reading some posts about how these Ryzen CPUs run pretty hot, I'm guessing my numbers aren't super bad...but still, I'd prefer to get them lower. So I've decided to get a new cooler for it. It seems like a lot of people recommend Noctua coolers, but they're pretty huge, from what I

Is my PC running to hot? Wind up then down sound also?

What is PBO and where do I turn that off? Is that a bios setting? -
Is my PC running to hot? Wind up then down sound also?
VincentVolaju replied to VincentVolaju's topic in Cooling
I just checked task manager now, nothing is really eating away at my resources. My CPU is at 15-20% being used, 10% of that is Firefox tabs,45% of memory is being used, 3.6gigs on Firefox again, but I have a video shows open, and YouTube etc. Really? Okay well, that's good to hear. I googled normal CPU temps and it said like 25-35 degrees if you're not running any games and stuff. So when I saw I was 60-70 just at the desktop with Discord and a few firefox tabs opened I started to freak out lol. -
Hey everyone, so I built my PC today and have just been getting used to it. I haven't played many games or put it under any kind of real load. Mostly watching some YouTube videos, shows, transferring files from my old laptop etc. Everything seems to be working fine so far, except there is 2 things I am concerned about. 1) Every 5-10 seconds I hear this sound like something in my PC is revving up then revs back down. It's almost like a humming fan sounds, it goes up and then down within 2-3 seconds, but happens every 5-10 seconds. Any idea what it could be? 2) I'm not r

Hey everyone! So I finished my build a couple hours ago and it seems like everything is working fine. The noise is a bit more than I expected, not sure if it's the 120mm fans, or the GPU but it isn't terrible, just a louder "humming" sound than I thought. I also haven't got to test many things yet. I downloaded Steam and Bannerlord, and ran the customs battle with high settings and 1000 person battle size. It only got 35-45fps during the big 500 vs 500 fights, but I plan to tweak the options a bit to try and get it to be 60+ FPS at all times. That's the only demanding test I've done so far. Ev

On a fresh PC, should I install drivers first, or windows updates?
VincentVolaju replied to VincentVolaju's topic in Windows
Any idea if Windows will install older drivers for my mobo like chipset, audio, lan etc.? I know when installing GPU drivers you can usually choose a "clean" installation (well with Nvidia you can, this is my first AMD card, so not sure). So I'll definitely install my 5600 XT drivers manually so that I can choose to delete all previous versions. But I wonder if it also updates my older mobo drivers as well? Edit: Also, another side question... Should I download / install the B450M "Onboard PIDE/SATA Drivers", if I my only drive is an m.2 Nvme? -
Hey everyone, tomorrow the last part that I need for my new build will come, so I'm hoping by tomorrow night everything will be put together and working (fingers crossed). Assuming I didn't mess up or break anything while putting it all together; I'll have to install windows, download drivers, updates etc. I got a USB specifically for the Windows Installation tool, that is how I plan to install windows on the new PC. I was also considering downloading all the drivers I am going to need, like GPU and mobo drivers, and putting them on separate USB. That way as soon as I get to desktop, I can sta

I got my PSU yesterday, installed it into my build, and started routing some cables to where I think they're going to be needed. The PSU I got is a Corsair RM 550x (https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/product/B07DND1B7C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) It only comes with 1 PCI-E cable. One side is an 8pin, and the other side is 2 split 6+2 pins (see photo). The GPU that should be arriving today or tomorrow, is a Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT. I'm pretty sure this GPU is just 1 8pin connector. So I have 3 questions for you guys...

So heres what my build looks like so far
VincentVolaju replied to VincentVolaju's topic in New Builds and Planning
It's an Antec VSK10 Window. It's really small, but if I can fit everything inside and do some decent cable management, then I think in the end it will come out looking pretty nice. -
Only some of my parts have gotten here so far, but earlier this morning the case came so I figured I'd start trying to put together a bit of what I could. So far I have the Mobo, CPU, Fans, and Case. I spent WAYYY too long trying to get the dang front headers connected. This case is sooo small, and I've got big hands. In the end I had to use needle nose pliers to hold the single pin connectors while trying to push them into the front IO pins on the motherboard lol, it was rough. But so far, I don't think it looks too bad. The rest of the parts should be coming 1 b

Some questions about my fans and standoffs.
VincentVolaju replied to VincentVolaju's topic in General Discussion
Lol, I'm an idiot for not even thinking about trying to align up the mobo with the holes first =X. For the fans, I've already checked all over but couldn't find any arrows or markers. I'll check again now, but I'm pretty sure I didn't see any.
