I found it! I was Googling around at other motherboards based on the images of the model number I have, and came across the image below. I have the exact pin layout on this board as well. So it seems this motherboard has the same pin layout in that spot as the one I was looking at. And now the motherboard comes to life. Also the board has some new problems though, but I am going to do my standard troubleshooting to fix that.

Hmmmm. I kind of agree with both of you. Though I am leaning toward the unverified one, but I think I am going to give this a bit more time to see if anyone is able to locate another BIOS for this card.

I recently got an EVGA X79 Classified motherboard through a trade and I am considering upgrading the CPU to an i7 4930K because the price for one on eBay is good.

The problem is, I can’t get information on compatibility for that processor. I am thinking that it is compatible with a BIOS update, but can’t confirm anything. I looked around on the internet but information seems limited.

Anyone know a little bit more about this board or can point me in the right direction? I would very much appreciate it.

My rule of thumb for most PCs is if it can accommodate up to 8GB of RAM, its not completely useless. There is still life for something that can do just basic tasks. There is likely someone in your community who needs a basic computer. Even if it is just DDR2, spend a few bucks on eBay (DDR2 is dirt cheap on there) and give it some life as a basic but snappy computer for someone who needs it.

Very nice find by the way!

I can only hope this passes in time, but I suspect that the scalpers won't even listen to the law. Maybe, just maybe, this will get the ball rolling for bringing down prices for GPUs, but I am not holding my breath. These GPU prices have been here for a while and almost feels like a dystopian normal now.

I could not find any 8 core CPUs for that amount worth mentioning that were new, but for used on eBay from AMD, I think the 3700X might be your best bet at around $230:

Note however that they can go as low as $180.

If you want to go slightly cheaper for a GPU, then you can consider an RX 560 4GB, but I would stick with GTX 970 if you are able to get one for "cheap".

I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to PSUs, but my understanding is for your setup a 750w PSU is overkill. Then again going over is much better than being under with the wattage for a PSU. I have a 3070 and paired it with a 650w PSU and its works great.

I am unfamiliar with the market in India, but I would suggest looking around locally for a used laptop that has (or at least can accommodate) 4GB or more of RAM and just stick the OS you want on it. Since you are using it just for browsing, a lightweight Linux OS should work fine with just 4GB of RAM.

Ykcud got a reaction from YoungBlade in Ryzen AM4 CPU Price Analyzes
I got board today and decided to take all the AM4 non OEM Ryzen CPUs and did some research with the pricing on them from eBay. I figured I would share this information with the community if anyone was curious. I will likely revisit this about a week after AMD releases their new CPUs in the coming month or two. This helps me a bit as well because I like building PCs and am a bargain hunter. I often sell several PCs on Craigslist once completed. Anyways, I thought the results were interesting and I recognize that the market fluctuates based on many factors. Here are my analyzes of the results below:

(As a note, I rounded the percentages up or down, depending where the decimal point landed. I gathered my MSRP prices from Wikipedia. Regarding the sellers, I sorted the listings by what is only available in the United States, buy only (no auction results), used, open box, refurbished and new (to avoid listings with broken parts) and lowest to highest price).

Unsurprisingly the Zen based processors are much cheaper than they were at MSRP, though the results vary greatly depending on which one you look at. The entry-level Ryzen chips are the least effected ones, with the Ryzen 3 1300X being the worse deal at only a 26% decrease from its MSRP price of $129. It can be had for $96 right now.

However, as we scale up to the mainstream and performance CPUs, the prices are much better. The Ryzen 7 1800X is one of the most affected where it’s MSRP of $499 has dropped dramatically to $195 (a 61% decrease). However the crown here goes to the Ryzen 5 1400, where it dropped 69% from it’s $169 price at MSRP to the now $100.

Now lets look at the first generation of APUs. Both of these prices have raised from their MSRP sadly. The Ryzen 3 2200G is the most affected with an increase of 72% (MSRP of $99 to the now $170). If you got a 2200G, now is the time to sell it! The 2400G however fared a bit better with only a 4% increase from it’s MSRP ($169 to the now $175). Of course at this price point, it is possible to snag a 2400G at MSRP if you are vigilant on eBay. All and all, it looks like the GPU shortage really took a toll on these.

Regarding the Zen+ based or 2nd gen of Ryzen CPUs, we still find some interesting results. The mainstream CPUs went down about 30 plus percent. However the performance processors is where we want to look. The Ryzen 7 is the best example, where its MSRP was $299, it dropped to $160, which is a 46% decrease. The worse out of the 2nd gen is the 2600, which went from $199 to just $140, only a decrease of 30%. It is worth mentioning that I have seen the Ryzen 5 2600 go as low as $120, but this is rare.

To the second generation of APUs. These were hit especially hard by the GPU shortage. They increased in price by more than twice their MSRP, with the 3200G being hit the hardest by far. It’s MSRP according to Wikipedia was just $99, but it can only be found at the time of writing for $269. YIKES! If you got one and want to get rid it, do it now!

And the Zen 2 or 3rd generation of Ryzen CPUs. The entry level CPUs of this generation curiously increased in value, while the rest decreased. The Ryzen 3 3100 in fact went up more than twice in price from it’s MSRP of $99. It is now $225 as of this writing. The mainstream processors did not decrease by much, only a by single digits of percent. However, where it gets interesting is the performance based CPUs. The Ryzen 7 3800X and 3800XT are almost the same price right now ($239 and $240 respectively) and share the same MSRP of $399. However, the real winner in this one is the Ryzen 7 3700X, which went from an MSRP of $329 to $180, which is a 45% decrease. I personally have seen these go as low as $140, where I snagged one at and currently run it in my personal server at the time of this writing. It is worth mentioning that the Enthusiast line also went down in price as well, but only by a margin of 29 to 15%, which is not quite as good as the performance line this generation.

Now onto the current gen (at least for the next month or two as of this writing); Zen 3 or the 4th generation. The price decrease for these is little compared to the previous generations, which is not surprising considering they are current. However, one of them stands out from the rest. The Ryzen 7 5800X. The MSRP for this is $449, but it can be had for $341 at the time this was written. This is a decrease of roughly 24%. Not bad! The worse one right now is the 5900X, which it’s MSRP is $549 and it decreased only about 7% to $510.

Lastly lets look at the APUs that recently came out. Surprisingly, the prices for these are very unlike the last generation of APUs, which I find a bit fascinating. The price drop might be small, but its better than double what they are compared to other APUs right now. The best one is the Ryzen 7 5700G. It’s MSRP is $359, but it can be purchased for just $300 right now on eBay. That’s a decrease of 16%. Where as the 5600G only decreased by 7%, from $259 to $239 as of this writing.

I would save some of that money and maybe go with a GTX 960 2GB or an RX 550 at the most. The CPU is not the greatest. It can get beaten by ones from from 4 years earlier. than it (if not more).

On the other hand, I do have some systems laying around with a Phenom II X4 840 and a RX 550 2GB and they are often bottlenecked by the GPU. The Phenom II X4 840 is slightly better than your CPU based on some research I just did.

If you really want to stretch your $200 for a GPU, go for a GTX 970 when on eBay goes below $200 (which they do), or bid on one until you win it for that price. But I don't recommend it.
