Mysterious PNY 1060 3GB. Help me fix it?

Ykcud

First off, I am very well aware that this card is not exactly a powerhouse, but I still want to try and fix it.

I seem to have an elusive PNY 1060 3GB GPU on my hands. It has some stability issues. I want to try and flash the correct BIOS onto it.

However, I am not able to find any info on it anywhere. I looked up the part number in my browser, searched eBay for listings of it (both for sale and sold) and searched on techpowerup. The ladder only shows 6 GB models from PNY.

There is a 3 GB model of the GTX 1060 out there, but it has two fans and the one I have just has a single fan in the middle (as you can see from the pictures below).

The part number of the GPU is “gmx1060n3h3es1ktp6bjc”.

It was given to me for free, so if I can’t fix it, it’s not the biggest issue or anything, but I still want to try.

Also, I am hoping I don't have to contact PNY to see if they will give me a BIOS file. This is because in the past whenever I asked for a BIOS file from a brand, they declined to provide one, and I asked a lot of them. Not a single one provided a file.

If I can get it fixed, I am thinking I will give it to my best friend’s daughter. She currently has a GTX 760 in her rig and from what I can find, the GTX 1060 3 GB is about 2 times as good in terms of gaming. It would be paired with an FX 8350 as that is what is in her PC.

Anyone able to shed some light on this particular card?

i dont think its good to get it from another manufacturer, i sent the link to another pny card with same specs, probably use the same vbios file across all versions of the pny gpus, better to do that then risk another custom vbios from another manufacturer

I wouldn't flash unverified BIOS files. Also reference design is reference, you know. The PNY BIOS has same clocks as the original card and support all memory brands

Hmmmm. I kind of agree with both of you. Though I am leaning toward the unverified one, but I think I am going to give this a bit more time to see if anyone is able to locate another BIOS for this card.
