SkyHound0202 got a reaction from JohnCarlHenry in updating motherboard bios without cpu
    Impossible.

Contact your retailer or local MSI service center first and ask them to help you update the BIOS. If those options fail, alternatively request loaning a bootkit from AMD to update the BIOS then return it.

Edit: disregard comment. The board in question supports BIOS flashback without CPU.

Got an Nvidia RTX Super ad on the AMD Radeon 5700 XT review.

Apparently that's how AMD lost its "mind share" to its rivals.

Same as last gen, Wraith Stealth (65W heat dissipation) for APU and 65W Ryzen, Wraith Spire (95W heat dissipation) for 95W part and Wraith Prism (140W heat dissipation) for 105W part.
Curiously, 3700X, a 65W processor, would comes with Wraith Prism (with RGB LED).

My point is, the horrible thermal and power consumption of Radeon 7 proves it's possible for AMD to screw up even with a newer node. And knowing AMD will push for higher clock speed aggressively made me worried a bit.
But after seeing a 65W 3700X outperforms a 105W 2700X, I think AMD has learned from their mistakes somehow and tries to balance performance and power this time.

Instead, Realtek Audio Control is available from Microsoft Store as it replacement.

That Xeon W demo makes me wonder whether if there's an ECC kit that can reliably overclock beyond DDR4-3200 out there.

If so, it would be amazing to used with the upcoming 16-core Ryzen in a home VM server.

SkyHound0202 got a reaction from Fasauceome in MoBo showing ram speeds with "OC" on it.
Z270 and Kaby Lake officially supports up to DDR4-2400, thus anything beyond 2400 is considered as (sanctioned) overclocking.

Enable XMP is the easy way to achieve the rated speed of the memory module, but it might not be the optimum of the module. And there's a small chance of compatibility issues.

You can also manually overclock the RAM to higher speed, regardless of its rated speed.

If you want light gaming laptop at the price point of 800  EUR, you will typically get a Ryzen APU or Intel + MX250 combo.

    Here's a few choice:

    13 inch, 2500U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD
    https://www.amazon.de/HP-13-ag0004ng-Touchdisplay-Convertible-Windows/dp/B07D5FCHMF/

    14 inch, 8565U, MX250, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 128 GB SSD
    https://www.amazon.de/HP-Pavilion-14-ce2010ng-i7-8565U-GeForce/dp/B07PD18HMB/

They are the same price. If you want better battery life, you can choose the first one; if you want better gaming performance but slightly worse battery life and thicker size, then choose the latter.

    Edit: fix typo

SkyHound0202 got a reaction from SpookyCitrus in Why Are Reference Monitors SO Expensive?
The first monitor is a medical imaging monitor specialized in displaying surgical/diagnostic images. The second monitor is a 4 way broadcast monitor. Neither of them are consumer grade hardware, they are intended for professionals.

The are geared more towards what buyers's going to do with it: first on is certified to be consistent (so your doctor won't misdiagnose you after looking at a blurry X-ray) and the other can accept BNC connectors for monitoring the camera inputs (4-way in/out).

As for the price, the buyers are expected to (be able to) pay that much if their professional workflow (medical imaging, broadcasting & production, etc.) can benefit from such premium feature.

Is it the same GHz band (2.4 or 5) or same channel.
    Because from that I read:
Either way, it's a good idea on to not to congest a channel. If there's other undesired device operating on a certain channel (like your neighbor's Wi-Fi), keep clear and set your router to transmit on a cleaner channel for better performance.

When you install a better cooling system system on other machines, they will try to boost the processor to a higher frequency thanks to the increased headroom.

Apple, on the other hand, will try to lower the fan speed to stay quiet and maintain the base clock.

Curious how Apple is going to cool a power hungry CPU and GPU(s) with only passive cooler.
