First of all, thank you so much for doing all that research, thats simply amazing! Unfortunately, they all are out of stock and display a delivery date of +10 days (and all the other stores I came across), I think they must have run out and considering the current climate the deliverer only gets them to order at the moment or something. I will have to act fast considering the AMD discount is going to end this month. I think ill give them a call tomorrow to have a check whether they think it will be more like 14-dayish or over a month to make my decision on that. Fingers crossed 😛

But really, can't thank you enough for going through all that effort! Its insane, I appreciate you so so much! 🙏

They started including AM4 mounts in 2019. If you get an old stock unit, you will need a bracket which Noctua does provide free of charge with proof of purchase.

Since the 3900x is on a good discount anyways and if you can afford a new computer you might as well. As said by boggy there will always be a better thing later but the 3900 is a really good cpu now. When you pick up cinema4d and after effects more you'll see a massive improvement and gaming on the 3900 is great as it's amongst the top gaming cpu's out there at stock. Sure an oc'd 3600 that runs at the same frequency as the 3900 will perform mostly the same in a lot of games but since you do those other tasks too I'd advice you to get an 8 core ryzen at least.

You can always upgrade later as eventually the 3900 and 3950 will become older and cheaper on the used market.

it's up to you and when you need a new pc. there will always be new releases around the corner, new price cuts around the corner etc. unless there is something coming around next month (and there is not), usually it's not worth waiting. if you need a new pc, get one. if you don't, don't

Alright! Sounds about right. Thank you so much for all your aid! Ill tweak the system like you suggested and I should be ready to go. Really appreciate you! Ill be able to have a better build because of you! Thanks!

the X570 Prime is a slightly better board. the x570-p is just a cheaper version of the tuf gaming with similar level vrms. asus needs to fix their naming scheme.

cheaper and also 3600C16, rather than 3600C17, which is better

one of the best coolers that exists.

out of the x570 manufacturers, asus has the best vrms, so it will allow more cores and higher overclocks

the NH-D15 is just a much beefier NH-U12 (dual tower vs single tower respectively)

The asus has much better VRMs than the aorus one. refer to this

VR is nothing special after using it for a couple of weeks. Plan accordingly.

Got my Oculus Rift just before Christmas of 2016 and used it for a month, if that. Haven't touched it since January 2017.

The only major launch that's plausible in 2020 would be the PSVR 2, as the PS5 is coming late 2020. But it's probably more likely the PSVR 2 will launch the following year.

For PC there isn't much on the table for 2020, maybe Pimax 8K but that's kinda niche and Pimax are notoriously unreliable.

One thing you could consider is getting an Oculus Quest. It can be used with a PC, but is mainly a standalone VR headset. So you could take that with you for those 6 months.

SteamVR is a software platform, not a VR headset.

You don't strictly need a stable 90FPS, with ASW you can have a comfortable experience while only really rendering 45FPS (or 40FPS with a Rift S).

Generally VR games are less CPU-dependent than non-VR games, but there are exceptions.

Not really, at most refreshes of what's already out, currently the Steam VR is the top notch one.

VR is cool but it's also a lot of hassle, you have to think twice if you won't eventually get over it too soon to where the investment hurts your pocket... Half Life aside the VR games library is still very limited and might underwhelm you.

A GTX 1080 is good enough with fine tuning of the settings but a locked i7 2600 is not going to suffice... for VR you need at very very very least stable 90fps, most are 90hz... which is the minimum to avoid nausea and alike.

high refresh rate is always CPU depended... therefore you kinda have to upgrade your current computer before you can really think which VR set to buy.

if they're selling a 20m cable, it's pretty sure to work, or else they wouldn't be selling now would they

of course it depends on external environment as well, say if you run a lot of cables in parallel, then crosstalk might be an issue
in a normal household, i dont think that's an issue

the transmitter's power is also a factor
HDMI is a digital signal, 1's and 0's
0 when below certain voltage to 0, 1 if above certain voltage to a certain limit
voltage will drops across cable length due to resistance
so there are two ways to increase signal integrity
    1) use near max voltage of "1" to ensure voltage drop across the cable wont bring final output to below 1's minimum voltage (assuming it have high current limit)
    2) decrease resistance of wire to reduce voltage drop (increase the area of conductor, aka thicker cables)

Can I suggest trying to write the iso to an USB instead. Use Rufus for this. Often when manually trying to create bootable drives issues arise (I even had issues when using different programs than rufus for linux distros, so I'd say give this a shot).

Revontuli reacted to Master Disaster in Cannot boot from CD on older PC
What's happening is it's seeing the disc has a boot sector, trying to boot from it, failing and then reverting back to your HDD which doesn't have any boot sector at all so it's failing then it's looping round the entire cycle again.

Chances are the disc is knackered, what disc is it? Is it original or burned? Can you try it in another PC?

If you have an Nvidia card, you could use the Moonlight Streaming Client to do away with any dedicated server infrastructure and just use your PC as a VM which streams to any device. This is only for games though, I don;t think you can remote access your PC from the root directory like an actual server could enable you to do.
