Two back up drives. Rotate them everyday.
    One in a safe place.
One plugged into a dock syncing all day as you work.
    That is a bare minimum.
I keep another drive at my parents that I rotate when I can.

I have used all distros. Well not all obviously, but most. Just go with ubuntu for performance and stability. You can install all desktop environments on ubuntu. e.g. you can turn ubuntu into xubuntu or lubuntu.
In defense of all other distributions, ubuntu can be slower to update application packages, but that is not a problem because you can install software manually.
Ubuntu has "snap" software sandboxing which is not quite properly sandboxing web browsers yet, but when they do get it sorted it will be awesome.
I can break down my experience with other distros if you like.
just google bash programming. Its very straight forward. If you really want to learn linux you could install and use arch linux for a few months. I used Arch while at uni, coz it had a kernel version i needed for my wifi, and I learnt a lot from it. Arch broke on me twice, because the kernel + Xorg versions were not compatible with my proprietary nvidia driver. I think that was my only real problem with arch and its rolling release style.

I left social media a year ago after my second kid was born, needed to put the correct time into the correct things in my life.  My life experiences are so much better for it.

The 1050 is better. I never had a chance to test the graphics on the 2200g, but from what I've seen on various youtube videos, the 2200g will only get you to medium settings on most games. I'd say that most APUs are better suited if you're slowly building your rig, and want to get playing before spending the money on a GPU. I got lucky and found the 1050 pretty cheap while I was still planning my parts.

welcome to your first class in intersectionality. Notice how no one complains about under-representation in dirty jobs? If they were genuine about lifting people up they would want to get more people into self employment and trades, but this would likely create more right wing libertarians. The most well off people I know are not working for corporations, they are self employed tradesmen. But this doesnt align with the far-left authoritarian agenda.

this is not convoluted at all. The usb drive is just acting as a physical switch. I did something similar a while back. I put a switch on the power supply to my linux disk so if the drive was powered it would boot linux, otherwise windows.

windows reports encrypted drives as unknown/unused. It will take a very long time to crack an encrypted drive. Have you never had your computer inspected? I have. Its best to give them a clean dummy so they can give you a quick and easy pass.

In the gulag archipelago, Solzhenitsyn described a narc culture. This reminds me of that. An accusation of 'wrong think' will cause a person to disappear. A lot of these activists/feminists/LGBTQ+ people appear to be open Marxists of varying degrees so this is ripe for conspiracy theories. But yea, narc culture is bad and in an open market it does result it the "get woke go broke" phenomena.

Well, this looks interesting. An open letter has been posted to the Linux Kernal mailing List, which details how developers can retroactively rescind the licenses for their contributions made to the Linux Kernal. If people or companies continue using that code, now under a rescinded license, they are potentially open to copyright lawsuits.

Richard Stallman has commented on this letter saying:

    Source: https://lulz.com/linux-devs-threaten-killswitch-coc-controversy-1252/

There is a hell of a lot more information in the article, I have only posted the letter. This appears to only apply to the GNU Public License Version 2.

My thoughts: I think this is good. I don't think the CoC is a good thing and I think those trying to force it on the Linux community cannot be trusted to be impartial or fair. I think large parts of the CoC will result in objectively racist and sexist policies despite what its proponents claim. I think a lot of the assumptions made by those championing this CoC are, in their own right, racist and sexist.

If we're also talking non-fiction, then I'm currently in the process of reading the Origins of Totalitarianism.
I'm about halfway through and so far it's been an interesting read.  It leans quite heavily on a Continetal European methodology, but when you get the hang of that it's a very good analysis.

In fiction I just recently finished re-reading Crime and Punishment. That's a book that'll drag your through Hell and back.
