Sorry for the late reply. This post is 4 years old and PotPlayer has been revamped completely since then. New, better hardware accelerating features have been added and some have been taken out. I might get to updating the post some time, but since I've since switched to macOS completely, it might not apply to everyone since macOS uses different APIs by default.

Despite the post's age, most of the stuff holds its value to this day though.. It's merely some of the codecs and upscaling algorithms that have changed. I'll try and update the guide in the near future.

You should use a proper mixer, which has resistors to prevent one source from grounding out on the other's output circuit.

I forgot to update this thread with what the culprit was and it was bad Windows updates, none of my hardware was the problem.

Yeah, I agree that a newer BIOS shouldn't be incompatible. However, check to see if there are any Beta BIOS options too for download. Additionally, it wouldn't hurt to flash it to a previous BIOS; even going through a handful just in case. As it stands, you're going to have to return the kit most likely (if it is the kit itself). Therefore, in the mean time, trying to find a solution now isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Quick question, have you tried putting the old kit of memory back in? Sometimes when performing upgrades you knock cables loose and whatnot. Which leads people to think they did something wrong with the upgrade, when in fact it's something else. Putting the old kit back in at least eliminates that possibility (to see if you still get Error Code 53).

Also, I would check through this generic guide:

    https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/perform-these-steps-before-posting-about-post-boot-no-video-problems.1285536/

Might assist in case you missed any troubleshooting steps.

Laptop GPUs doesn't show it in say Afterburner so I can't take a screenshot of that, but with a desktop card GPU Tweak (as much as I hate it) should show graphics card power draw in % of TDP. You could check base TDP by looking it up in techpowerup's VGA BIOS database

If power draw is higher, temperatures will be higher. Simple.

I have the 990 250 ohm which are much harder to drive than the 80 ohm. The fiio e10 k has taken a decent amount of discounts since made those comments and are more often found for arou. $60-70 which I would say is pretty decent deal. But if you can stretch your budget the liquid spark or the fiio k3 or fiio k5 pro are also great options

Hey i saw your posts from another article where you say not to go with the Fiio e10k, why would you recommend that to me specifically? I mean i am trying to budget, but i'm willing to save up for something more suitable if necessary. A lot of people are telling the op not to go with that one, so i'm just trying to be cautious.

    also this,
"I used the e10k with my dt 990 pro it powered it but like it just gets loud at high gain at max settings. I found getting a more powerful amp like the liquid spark the bassand sound stage got significantly better"

Based off that it seems it would give me the loudness i'm after, but not the bass.

Looking for an amp that isn't too pricey that will power my Beyerdynamic dt 990 Pro 80 ohm headphones. The volume is too low for me and the bass isn't very strong. Any suggestions that will fit my needs in the $50 range or do i need to spend a lot more than that?

Apparently the qvl list of supported ram for my specific motherboard has support for nearly every model of the GSkill Royal ram, but not my specific model, an Asus rep told me i would have to buy a different kit or wait for them to add support, super ridiculous!

Yeah after trying all of that, i put back in the old kit and it worked perfectly, so then i tried again with the new kit even after that with the same error code. Just found out they released a new bios recently 1302, so i will update to that and try again.

Well, I would run Memtest, if it doesn't find anything and does stay on you can rule out hardware.
BIOS/UEFI update would be next on my list if it shuts down while in Memtest.
If it is stable in BIOS, then I would blame Windows updates...
It could be a driver issue, some power saving feature not working. Maybe..

    Hey there everyone.

So ive been working on my latest build and trying to figure out the best way to mount my graphics card vertically. After hanging out on the s340 elite club forum I decided to create this video as a helpful guide.

This is should work in other cases too with 7 slots but I can't guarantee. Perhaps people could list below if they've tried and what case they used this in.

Hope you like it. It's my first video like this.

I would love feedback too to improve my videos

Do you have stepping turned off? if so then it's running at 4.6Ghz all the time even if you don't need it to. IMO it's better to have stepping enabled so you're only using what you need to, will save energy and heat.

That motherboard does look like it has a total of 7 fan headers, but if you wanted to group control the fans so they work as one set you can use fan adapters. A good rule of thumb is to not have more than 3-4 fans per header depending on the fan.

cottontails2 reacted to atomicus in What monitor to pair up with a GTX 1080?
You simply can't beat 21:9 1440p for gaming... immersion is incredible and it's FAR easier to drive than 4K (even a 1080 will struggle in some games) which would need to be 40" to match 21:9 immersion, but no such monitor exists yet with G-Sync or fast enough refresh. 16:9 is a TV resolution, 21:9 is Cinema. No contest there. Question is what crazy person DOESN'T want cinematic gameplay?! Sure, 16:9 is universally supported, but it won't be long before 21:9 is the same, and to be honest there is VERY little that won't work, and those games that don't can invariably always be fixed with a simple tweak or patch. As somebody has mentioned though, Overwatch is an exception (for stupid reasons, just Google it), but the devs have been getting ripped a new one by gamers for this, so it wouldn't surprise me if that changes in the near future.

Trust me, only a blind fool would argue that 21:9 isn't going to grow in popularity... 144Hz 21:9 panels are in the pipeline for 2017 (this is confirmed), and prices will hopefully drop (this is the biggest barrier for entry to be honest, they are costly). 99.9% of the people knocking 21:9 don't have it... those that do are well aware of its brilliance... seek advice from them and ignore the others. I have an X34 myself and I love it, could never go back to 16:9 now. 16:9 is to 21:9 what 4:3 was to 16:9... seriously, it takes NO time at all to get used to the wider aspect ratio to the point it just seems normal and 'right'. Ignore the naysayers, it's the future and if you can afford it, buy it.
