Stentorian reacted to Poinkachu in Cable organisation
Generally I keep 1 or 2 of each type. Just in case.
Example : 1x USB-A to Micro USB, 1x USB-A to USB-C, 1x Mini HDMI to HDMI, etc
I keep the cables with good materials (one that doesn't degrade or melt easily for years under some heat).
The rest, I either give them to friends & family that needs 'em, or sell in bulk very cheap.
No point keeping a cheap cable with cheap insulation that sticks to the other cable/the container like it was glued when I open the hoard box in a year or less.

I put all my cables in one big drawer. If I can't close it anymore I start throwing cables out.
The cables are all over the place, but always rolled up with velcro.

Definitely got 1 of those boxes (Drona for Ikea Kallax). I don't disagree with Sjaakie on throwing it out, but I have plenty of space, so I rather keep my big wire ball.

I also hoarded quite some tech / cables, but at some point realized would never find a use for 95% of it ever again. When in doubt I just get rid of it. In the one off chance I happen to need that cable again I'll buy a new one. Happens max once a year maybe.

I choose 2-3 of the best cables and throw the rest out. Then I wrap themselves up with themselves and they go into a box. No organization. However, there are only about 10-15 cables in there.

Apple products suck. Bad tech designs that force them to be disposable.

Stentorian got a reaction from Ben17 in NGINX Issue
Hello,
I am HR for a company called KewlHost which are still in development and we are looking for someone to help us with a NGINX issue. We are trying to use NGINX on one of our nodes that we own to host several sites. At the moment, we need one for the main website, one for the gameserver panel and one for the billing website. We also want 3 - 4 dummy sites that we can change in the future.
It would be appreciated if someone could help, either by providing a tutorial on how to do it or by sending a message to me on Discord (Stentorian#9524) so you can help us out. Either way would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Stentorian
EDIT: All of the sites need to have SSL encryption on them. We have LetsEncrypt keys but we need it to support SSL.

Stentorian got a reaction from Shreyas1 in Rigs to Make in PCBS
I tried to build your rig but it really did not want to work. Your case has not been added into the game yet. Neither has your Motherboard, HDD, SSD or PSU. Also, because the case wasn't there, I couldn't do dual 1070's as the case I chose (the equivalent) didn't support it. Sorry.

You can, but the AM3 socket you got doesn't allow for great expandability.
This guy seems to have put in a Phenom II x4 b95 which is about the same as a Q6600.

Looks like you can pick a Phenom II x4 up for about 20 USD and a cheap SSD for like 30 USD (Kingston 120gb A400) Or you can go for an Samsung EVO 500gb for 80 USD but that might be out of your price range. You can get your machine up to 16gb RAM but 8gb will be enough. You can get a 1333mhz 2x4gb kit for like 30 or 40 USD on Ebay or Amazon.
The tricky part has to do with a graphics card because your case is SFF. I would recommend this 1050ti because it does't need any extra power cables and it is a low profile card. Do not go below a 1050 and definitely don't get a 1030 no matter how tempted you are.

The graphics card will be the most expensive component by far.
Here is a video on Windows installation.
You can view your Windows key from your current computer and just key it in when you install the new OS on the SSD.
Let me know if you need more help.

That is an amazing use of space! I would've never thought of that if I had a bunkbed. I kinda wish I had a vertical PC then I could put it beside my desk and allow more room on my desk for a second monitor

Stentorian reacted to Sauron in Error whilst using Apache2 on Ubuntu
check if anything is using ports 80 and 443:
netstat -lnp | grep -e :80 -e :443 and kill those processes.
check your configuration and make sure it's NOT like this:
Listen 0.0.0.0:80 Listen [::]:80 if it is, remove the second line.

I've finally figured out how to fix it. It was a bit of render settings that needed changing!
