IT related job or do some open source stuff, freelance or anything else to show you have some practical skills when appyling for real job. At least in our company your CV just with education doesn't mean a lot. Even university degree without some practical skills is useless. There's few interviews and in the end practical tasks with some help from senior developer. When I applied I showed web app that pulled data from one online game API and formatted for us in Wiki. The task I was given was write a class for handling discount for job cart. Another was converting arabic numbers to roman. So my advise is to just get dirty and create something.

I was referring more to general hate of MS just because it's M$. And I'm all for using best tool for the job too.

Tsss, don't expose my trolling efforts. Anyway saying that one OS is so much better than other when it comes to Windows/OS X/big linux distros is just starting flame war and attacking any of them in community where most users are on specific one will cause it right away.

The authentication part is the easiest I guess but MS ecosystem (AD, WSUS, Exchange etc.) as an integrated solution I think is better as open source can offer. Just found that there is even something like Centrify that can add *nix managment support to this. The downside of course is $$$.

Unknown_Guy reacted to ZeroBreaker in Teksyndicate's review of the Surface Pro 3 (High quality review from Wendell)
Well, on the point of multiple displays, he contacted microsoft and told them, and after a lengthy convo they told him it would be looked into and was now a 'known issue' as stated by his written review while it was posted on teksyndicate as a draft. Wendell looks into stuff useful for teksyndicates target audience, hence the focus on displayport, which is relevant to me and probably to many others. the displayport standard included, 1.2 since the surface pro 2, does support 4k at 60hz and so there should not be any issues running it as it was intended.
Considering pretty much every review of the surface pro or subsequent generations on the net compare it to an ipad or an ultrabook when it suits them, and switch between the two, wendell has a fresh and interesting perspective on the device. I own a surface pro and had no issues with his review. Microsoft should state what limitations there are from the get-go, I struggled to find any info from microsoft on the displayport version on my model, it took me hours to find out it was 1.1.
Can't find a video review that goes into more detail than wendells.
EDIT: Also, your argument falls down when he doesn't blame microsoft - he clearly states it's an issue with 4th generation haswell processors. How did you miss that?

I remember seeing "Fog of War", where Bob McNamara states more or
less exactly that: Had the allies lost the war, they would have been
put on trial for war crimes same as they did with the axis powers.
He was mostly refering to the systematic large-scale fire bombings
of German and Japanese cities with hundreds of thousands dead, but
the mass deaths of axis POWs during and after the war can certainly
also be put on the list of offenses. I mean, at Stalingrad about
100,000 Germans were captured IIRC, and less than 10,000 made it
back home alive, the rest died in captivity. If that's not mass
murder I don't know what is.
And yeah, it could be argued that Stalin was responsible for quite a
few more deaths than Hitler over the course of his career (all those
political executions and persecutions, or the Holodomor, as two examples).
Mao should also not be forgotten on our list of mass murderers while
we're at it (the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution). Never
had to account for his sins either.

Its because digital is pixels and well a good digital picture virtually has no defined pixels you can see, it still is not as smooth as a film picture can be.

Film pictures are made when light from the lens reflects off the mirror inside the camera and onto the film, when it hits the film its exposed and produces a negative. and negitives are not pixels but are crystals witch have been exposed  and provide a higher quality imagine if taken right. and a negative can be printed up to any size and still maintain its crystal clear image. while a Digital picture when blown up can result in a very pixelated imagine

This is not only sad but also really scary for the future. International politics, but past and present has always been of great interest to me and this conflict right here will be very important for future events the next 10+ years. Russia will continue to make one provocation after an another until they get something that they can use as an excuse for war. Georgia unfortunately complied with that very easily, but Ukraine has not yet.

I personally think that yanukovych spoiled Putins plan quite a bit. Putin wanted him to stay in place, and manage the fallout so the pieces fell like he wanted too. yanukovych then bolted, and things happened too fast.

Russia gets some and some economic power due to stuff like a continued stronger grip on europe's gas deliveries. Gazprom keeps getting more and more deals in western europe. We have seen how Russia uses that to exercise their control. Ukraine pays almost double the rate for gas than Belarus does for instance.

This is going to end so freaking bad. I am normally NOT a hawk who thinks that if you just act like a high school bully and look STRONG, you will somehow acomplish things. Reagan was plenty strong and a lot of shit didn't go like they wanted anyway. But in this case, there needs to be some very tough actions, or this will continue to happen.

Why I fear that we won't see enough pressure applied by the west?

    This from the guardian today.:
"UK seeking to ensure Russia sanctions do not harm City of London
Government document photographed outside No 10 states that 'London's financial centre' should not be closed to Russians."

And there we have it. This is the problem. The west is owned by corporations who have one moral. Make as much fucking money as possible.

    Btw.

I LOVE that linus tech tips is not invaded by Russian propaganda. I don't know what the hell they are doing but they have been spamming every single major newspapers comment section with posts for the last 4-5 weeks.

AdBlock Plus. Pay per click - you won't get anything from me there any way, pay per impressions - I don't wan't something to mess with my subconsciousness, that just makes me more biased than I already am. But I really hate when ads slow down sites and distracts from content. And I understand that I am taking money away from site owner. If I'll want to support and the ads are not very intrusive then I'll turn ad block of for that site.

Yeah, I totally agree that diplomatic solution must be found here. But if UN, NATO, EU does not respond in a proper way it reminds how WWII started with reconciliation of occupation of Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. And than there's example of occupation of Finland's Karelia.

I never said that our leaders are perfect or have made the right decisions. I never said that all. No country's leader is perfect and they've all made at least 1 bad decision while in office.

And Hitler wanted to control the Sudetenland for the same exact reason. There's also a large number of Hispanics that live in Florida. Should Hispanic countries claim Florida as their own just because there's a large population of Hispanics here? No. Don't even give me that bullshit excuse. Putin has no right to be in Ukraine.

The wars were started because America was attacked by terrorists, and we weren't going to idly sit aside and just let them attack us and do nothing about it. There are repercussions for actions.

*edit:  sorry, I just saw that you are not using linux.  My ideas below involved linux, but the protocols (SAMBA, NFS, HTTP) should still apply.

You could create a shared folder on a linux system using smb (Samba) service.  Then map to the shared folder on any of your Apple or PC computers.   Then you can store whatever you want there.

If remote, I connect to my router's VPN.  Then I have access to the mapped share drive (the shared folder on linux) as if I were at home on my LAN.

I can also get to my folder and files using https if I wanted to.  From anywhere.   https://myURL:port/share/filename      But this required a bit of configuring of the http service to get SSL and authentication working the way I wanted it to.  It is pretty secure and it is encrypted.  But I only really use it for my SVN repository via tortoise.  It is nice that I can get to my SVN file repository from anywhere, even if behind firewall at an office building.

For a dropbox like setup, I use an rsync script to sync/mirror some of my folders to one of my linux servers.  Or, "lftp" using sftp protocol with the lftp mirror option would work similar to rsync.  These solutions are not the same as dropbox in that it isn't realtime, only a nightly sync.  It also doesn't keep revisions.  But it does mirror/sync your files to another machine on a scheduled basis.  It is a sync, so deleting a file on the source system would delete the file on the linux system too.

I still use dropbox though.  If any of my backups fail to restore or if my server mirrors burn to the ground, I can still get to my files from the Dropbox cloud.

The USB protocol is based around host vs client, that means you can only be a host or a client.
With normal networking, you are always a host and a client, so it wouldn't work with the current USB protocol. Also, latency is a big factor here.
