Salv8 (sam) reacted to suicidalfranco in do you think valve would try to make another console like steam machine?
if they can deliver a more powerful machine than the deck, with the base price coinciding with the deck's middle offering, why not? I'd buy it and retire the steam link at the same time.
I'd also be happy with a next gen deck just being capable to push more power when docked like the switch, but in that case, I'd still keep the link around.

Cyberpunk 2077 assumed everybody has insanely high end specs.

The requirements table shown earlier in this thread is only for 30fps.

I would consider Flight Simulator 2020 to be unplayable on anything below a 2070 at 1080p High.
I don't own Cyberpunk 2077 but if I did, I would be unable to play the game at my monitor's 144Hz refresh rate without compromising the visual look of the game.

I don't own Flight Simulator 2020 but if I did, the game would be barely playable at 1440p Medium.

In Battlefield 2042 I can't play the game at > 100 fps at 1440p High without Dynamic Resolution Scaling.

In plenty of games, the game engine can't deliver the performance the card is capable of.
Low and Medium are usually for people with significantly outdated or insanely low end hardware and does not normally look good at all. High is usually good looking but Ultra is what a game is really meant to look like.

If a game isn't playable on modern cards on High Settings then there's obviously a problem with the game.

Salv8 (sam) reacted to ZetZet in Unreal Engine 5.1 - video game graphics have arrived at their destination
I agree. It's so annoying when some developers push the graphics so far beyond what gamers can do and then hide behind "next-gen" cover. In my personal opinion if you are a developer you should scale your games to the most popular midrange card that is on the market. Like for example for all games that are going to come out in the next year or so 3060 should be able to get 60 fps comfortably in 1080p (maxed or near maxed). If you go beyond that you are punishing majority of the player base with a shit experience, just because they were too poor.

Cool, but knowing how well developers have optimized and polished games recently UE5 makes me shudder a little bit. I think I would prefer last-gen looking games if they ran smoothly and without as much janky stuff.

By this logic then you should have no problem with companies like Microsoft, Apple and Google becoming monopolies and absorbing every other tech company out there giving you less choice and giving them full control. Because that's what you'll end up with if you just let bussiness run how they see fit, the biggest ones will become monopolies and absorb everything else around them to maintain their leadership. While definitely not perfect, regulation of business is definitely needed in many cases. At the end of the day giving the consumer more choice and protection isn't bad.

With all due respect, if this switch has
DIFFERENT SOFTWARE - this is more than enough reason to claim that it Can 'improve audio experience'.
So until proven that this switch has not changed   software/firmware - LTT should have given 'em at least benefit of a doubt.
Because you know, eating up bandwidth or constantly loosing and resending  packets on-the-fly - is a precursor to pretty bad 'audio experience'
In case of most modern networking use cases, including audio streaming - software is everything...

what they were actually listening to was the same mp3 file played on the same device , nothing changed , they were just full of sh**.
