Trolling/pointless content is, well, pointless. Its known the reason the cracks are causing issues is due to electrical traces in that finger and when it cracks, it breaks those electrical traces and is what is causing the cards to die. Giving bad advise or trolling like this will only lead to people who may not know any better to try it.

Hey buddy, thought you should know. Asus dropped a new bios today (not beta).

    Jesus Christ, what a bootlicker.

Anyways, I don't know about everyone you mentioned, but here's Jay's and GN's video, which you should know about cause GN made 3 videos about it.
You know what? Access their youtube channel and look it up for yourself.

    It isn't.

That should be safe, the CPU VCore isn't what is killing the CPUs, it's the VSOC rail that's dangerous and what the new BIOSes are trying to limit. The core voltage hasn't been shown to damage the CPU by itself. The only time the voltage damages the CPU is after the SOC rail blows up the CPU, the VCore rail will start dumping current into the CPU and eventually overheat and blow up the substrate. The CPU is already dead by that point, only difference is it might kill the motherboard as well, and personally I wouldn't trust a motherboard where the CPU died in it no matter what so I wouldn't say it's that big a deal.

The BIOS just randomly crashing is more than likely because it's a beta release and hasn't had all the kinks worked out of it yet (these hot fix BIOSes were rushed out very quickly and didn't have the chance to be fully beta tested, hence why the stability on them is questionable). I'd get it you wanted to roll back to the latest non-beta BIOS and manually undervolt the SOC, that might be the best option, though you could just run the new BIOS as is and update the BIOS as new ones come out. Both are valid options and it depends on you which you think is better. I'd probably keep running the beta out of laziness (plus my experience with beta MSI BIOSes has been pretty good in the past) until a newer non-beta BIOS comes out, but it's up to you which you want to do.

How does that make me a bootlicker? I'm pointing out that your anger is for some reason only directed at one person. It's like a crowd was there when someone was having a heart attack, and two people went to help, while the other 50 stood by, and then you singled out one person and complained that they didn't help too.

My point is just that you seem to be awfully fixated on the fact that Linus specifically isn't covering this issue. Why do you care so much about just him? Why don't you care about the fact that 95% of the TechTubers aren't covering it? He's in the majority, not the minority.

I've seen all 3 GN videos, and the Jay video. I agree that this is a serious issue, and that Linus should talk about it - but I don't think he needs to do a dedicated video. Linus addressed the issue on WAN Show last night, including saying that they would be willing to pull the Asus sponsorship from LTX if they don't handle things better.

This is just my personal opinion mixed with a pinch of illuminati theory (and while wearing a aluminum foil cap)

Currently ASUS is the main/ big sponsor (at least) for their upcoming EXPO show, and ranting ASUS for their motherboard failure surely will make things shaky, especially after they hyping about the excitement of the EXPO and how whale keep hoarding the VIP ticket just to have a meet and greet

And then, there is also probably LTT group haven't cashed in of the check from ASUS, so until they milked the check from the sponsor s-e-g-u-e, they probably gonna play nice with ASUS

(Sorry, no s-e-g-u-e to sponsor, since I'm not paid to make this comment 😉)

Gamers Nexus did a great job explaining it but I want Linus to cover it in a separate video. Not on the WAN show mainly because of his reach. 13 million more subscribers than Steve's channel.

These Beta BIOS's have been out since 5/2/23. 9 days and not a single word from Asus about how they are totally willing to screw me out of my money if I use the BIOS that they released. I spent $900 on this upgrade, I don't have another $300 to throw at a motherboard because I can't guarantee the first one is covered under warranty. My current BIOS isn't even safe. I have the first fix BIOS they came out with that supposedly capped voltages at 1.30 but Steve proved that wrong as well.

I want LTT's reach. I want their big giant foot to come down and make Asus suffer. Hold these companies to their word.

so.. joining bandwagon eh? steve only did this after exploring the stuff behind the exploding cpu.. and jay after he is experiencing a lot of trouble with his amd build for his personal rig.. and the reversed capacitor on the intel board... i think you missed this - have you watched both videos?

LTT have time, they have the staff - including the lab to do some testing themselves to check if what steve claimed on their investigation is true or not. at this point, can you point on the video about LTT peer reviewing what steve have done on investigating the problem itself using their LAB resource?

at this point LTT is more "scripted" media company trying to play it safe with something like asus - as their sponsor for LTX to begin with. even back then they have no proper explanation to the RING and the scandal - just mere mention within a few second of talk about it on WAN show or some video.

meanwhile they DO make a proper vid/stream talking about VPN sponsor back then to address it, not for the RING itself

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Could be.  I am not worried at all, I use a 4080 and I was not worried about the new connector 'burning' up either ( it blew up in media but affected 0.02% of all cards sold ) .  I think the 7000 / ASUS situation is more of  a widespread problem however, but not enough to make me worried.  The WAY Asus is dealing with it however is absolutely shocking and terrible.

To not waste everyone’s time with long prelude, just a simple question.

is 1.3v limit on vsoc safe for 5 7600? According to hwinfo i’m sitting at 1.29v all the time.

Or should i look into ways of undervolting manually just to be on a safe side?

    Thank you for the input.

So, I bought a ROG Crosshair Hero X670E. Great motherboard.
One thing that took my att is: PCI Lanes: If you check AMD's website for Ryzen 7700x (my new CPU) it says up to 24/28 PCI Lanes.

On the other hand, here they put it like 16 lanes for GPU and other 8 lanes for storage, giving the 24 lanes as said on the website.

But, on Asus Manual, apparently you can't use the PCI lanes for storage without taking 8 lanes from the GPU, I'm honestly confused, where are the other 8 PCI lanes?

Only up to 5200 is guaranteed by the official AMD released specs. Since it's just out it may still be difficult to get it to run at higher speeds. Same issue with Intel, DDR4 still. Compatibility will improve over time with bios updates.

As long as it's DDR5 it will work. Now when it comes to Memory OC, it'll depend on your specific board if that kit has been validated for that board yet. Though that is not an end all be all, just some peace of mind that it will work.

Even if it's not on the validated list, it likely will still work 100%. But there's a chance it might not because a board vendor can't validate every kit of memory out there.

To put into perspective, my specific Corsair DDR4 kit isn't on Gigabyte's supported memory list for the Aorus Master DDR4 but it's happily running with XMP enabled just fine.

Kind of funny that your going from an intel 7700k to a AMD 7700x if you do go that route 😛

Generally unless you actually use the cores for something like video editing enmasse or something with the usecase for them, just stick with the 7700x. If you can wait another few months, 7800x3D Will more then likely bring an asswooping, but thats a TBD date.

If you want something that you can direct drop, then you could get a 7700x, sell it when the 7800x3D comes out and take a bit of a loss.

If you are tight on cash, def recommend the 5800x3d+  buy a good quality b550/x570 board (Check Hardwareswap, sometimes ebay can be good as well) and if possible Single rank 2x16 3200-3600mhz ram. I prefer stability so i almost always say just stick with 3200 mhz as its not that big of a deal as people make it out to be.

Value your money and what youll get out of it 🙂 Dont just spend cause you can, that will come back to bite you in the end.

Unless the good price you say is the Microcenter promotion that gives you a free 2x16GB DDR5-5600 CL36, essentially making the CPU+RAM cost $150 less, I wouldn't even consider Zen 4 CPUs. I would either go with Alder Lake for an all-rounder CPU, with the 5800X3D for a gaming only CPU, or wait for Raptor Lake.
Raptor Lake might also get some good promotions on Microcenter too if you wait for it. The 12700K was sold for $300 shortly after launch there.

The higher the resolutions, the less relevant the CPU becomes. You'll be mostly GPU bound. Put your money towards a higher end GPU and go with 5800x3D or have a look at Intel's current CPU lineup.

That being said, I've seen some YouTube sponsors where Micro Center apparently give you free RAM with a Zen 4 purchase. If that's an option where you live, you might want to consider it.

    5800x3d

Far cheaper overall (no need slow pricey ddr5, no need overpriced x670) and basically matches these new cpus in gaming performance due to the massive cache. You just need to pair with a decent b550 like the a pro/aorus pro p and cheapest 3200 cl16 ddr4 (ram speed dont affect 5800x3d above 3200 due to massive cache) and you get the same performance for less

And no more cores isnt neccesary for gaming, most top out at 8 cores and always prioritize singlethread over multithread. Also high resolution gaming depends more on the gpu than it does the cpu
