Refer to the PSU tier list to see which one you should buy. Usually I'd go for tier A+ for high end gaming rigs and >tier B for low-mid range builds

Corsair has 8 series of PSUs with 450W versions, 2 with 400W versions, and 2 with 430W versions. So that tells us fuck all.

"Old PC with outdated specs" tells us nothing
That could mean you have a PC with an Intel 8086, with a Hercules Graphics Card, or have a i7 4770k and GTX 980. So means literally nothing.

Never ever ever ever open up a PSU yourself.  If there's any issue with it, send it back to the manufacturer.
The capacitors inside a PSU can hold lethal voltages even months after unplugging them.

We had a member here last summer who ended up in hospital after touching the inside of his PSU.  Not sure if he went into cardiac arrest, but the need for a defibrillator sure points in that direction.
He made a thread about the whole thing.

Even if fixing it was a thing, there should be a reason why avoid a product that has already failed you once.

PSUs are complicated and I don't feel it's something that should be opened up without an expertise of the internal design. If you want to open it up, I'd leave it sitting unplugged from everything for 48 hours to make sure you don't get killed from electrocution when you open it up.

Tbh I'd RMA it, sell the new PSU at a slight loss and buy a better one

Yep. I've had to do this many times. Just hold a screwdriver there for maybe 2 and half seconds and the pc will shut down. Start up takes maybe a full second. It seems weird the first time, but it's 100% natural and designed to do just that. It's much, much better than just killing power from the wall.

Glad you got it sorted out buddy. Agree with @Tosa that it is most likely the situation that it's easier just to replace, at least at the point of customer service, then they probably have the board looked over by someone that's paid less, and/or scrapped maybe, depending on the problem.

Well, if you consider how much they pay the technician per hour compared to what the board costs, it could be cheaper for them to just replace the board without spending time troubleshooting it.

I don't know about the pins on the motherboard, but you can flip the switch on the back of the power supply to turn it off instantly

yeah, hold it for a few seconds
any conductive stuff will do, screwdriver is best though
just hold the stuff between the Power SW pins

Yeah, bridging the pins for the front panel power switch will turn it off. That's literally what the power button does in the first place, so just using something metal to bridge them will work.

ekadarmawan reacted to mariushm in is tray cpu is the same as refurbished cpu?
It should be new, never used processor, just sold to retailers or OEM manufacturers (DELL, HP etc) in trays instead of boxes with coolers.
You probably won't get cooler, since some manufacturers make their own heatsinks and fans assemblies.

Refurbished processors would basically be processors pulled from computers and tested to make sure they work. Not much that can go wrong with processors and not much you can "repair" or "fix" on a processor. They're safe purchases. So a refurbished processor would simply be a processor taken out of a returned pc (for other reasons like faulty video card or something like that), or from systems retired from leases (company leases hundreds of pcs to another company, a year later the company returns the leased computers and pays difference to get faster computers... now the original company just recycles those hundreds of original computers and some companies specialized in this pull out processors and sell them as "refurbished"
You may get a tray processor (only the processor) or they may bundle the cpu cooler in the package as well, you'd have to check the listing.

Install MSI afterburner and Riva, I also thought 8Gb was more than enough as even GTA V on ultra it only used like 7.4GB but then i went to 16GB and the FPS got way smother and saw i was using 9+GB

You can do two things before buying RAMs:
    A. Increase page memory, this way if ram fully used ram memory will be executed in you hard drive.
    B. Take Flash drive 4GB at least and you can use flash as a ram windows has built in feature ReadyBoost also not all flashs support such feature.
    Good luck
