Let me clear some things up for everyone here.

I've been using Ulefone power 5 for more then half a year now. The phone is a beast. Only problem I have with it is the weight. After watching videos on that phone for a long time my hands start to hurt and it just feels heavy sometimes. You do get used to that after some time. Before that I had a small, slim phone and I hated checking my pocket for it every few minutes because I couldn't feel it. This phone requires you to use a belt so your pants don't disappear (I'm serious).
On the hardware side it suits my needs. I don't play games much on it, I usually browse reddit and watch youtube videos and for those things this phone is amazing. I love not having to charge it every week. You don't know what you're missing unless you have a phone with a big battery. Also as for ram, there is enough of it. 6GB in power 5 and 4GB in 5s version.

That's about it. If you want to know other things about the phone I can answer it. Also, once you get a phone with huge battery there is no going back

The best thing is that you do this while ignoring most of the youtube drama, at least that’s the inpression I get. Keep on powering this sandal steam powered boat of massive awesomeness. You guys are awesome.

Edit: By the way, the best thing is tha- Just kidding. I actually dislike the «please like share subacribe» thing at the end of each video. ples stop. Actually don’t, that ending is the golden staple of LTT. Keep on trucking.

I can only imagine the process would take a very, very, very long time. Like, the new plug would be standard in new houses, and leave the old houses alone.

At least there would hopefully be one and only standard for when we populate other planets.

We should take all the plug standards today, throw them all in a big crock pot, an cook up a plug that has all the benefits.

While we are at it, we might as well make it so easy to plug in, even a blind person could do it.

It shouldn’t be too hard if EVERYONE  agrees to replace all standards with something better. I mean, we did it with USB, and are currently doing it with USB-C. Can’t be that hard with power outlets, right?

    @SesMoge

Globally the market will speak for itself, either people will buy/use (reasons being will always be money savings or time savings - the two rarest resources) this technology or not, and it will effect factories who choose to adopt early in either direction - I personally would buy anything that would have an ROI on my investment within 1 year (for sure) or 2 years.  3 years may not be cost effective because the extrapolation of technology may mean...the next big thing is on the horizon.

So as for people adopting the new standard only regulations can force that - so we are back to laws.  I love Capitalism in the sense that the market is controlled by our wallets.  Its influenced by advertisement, word of mouth blah blah etc.

So IF an adoption was pursued and there was a feasible reason to change, it would have to be from the benefits it brings the consumers - if only the rich can afford, this is a niche market.  If everyone can eventually afford (like most tech) and benefit from it - its the next FM radio.  Great for a while for sure!  This would greatly benefit early adopters and anyone who could reasonably buy into making this standard.  I love the Market so heck yeah!  If it fails it will be because it doesn't deliver the promised results from switching over.

Globally?  Does this save money or time?  If not most people wont care.  If it does - its the next biggest thing.

As for Earths many standards versus a global - the only benefit to earth is if it is an adoption that requires the use of 100% recycled materials.  To us inhabitants - as long as it kills our planet at less of a rate than we are currently - Im good with it.

(I also have not yet read whether this is providing a benefit...is it?)

You do know (research) that Hemp manufacturing was heavily influenced by...The Newspaper industry, because their current wood pulp to paper machines were far to expensive (I.E. cripple them) to replace - therefore, the Hemp industry, which is by FAR SUPERIOR to wood pulp in terms of...well we can get into that entire other subject and no I don't mean marijuana - in terms of everything (yet we cut trees down instead...because Humans and money) was never allowed to flourish in the US - to the degradation of us all.
(the point of this paragraph is to help you understand that Laws aren't made to help "us" this standard would have to have a benefit...to only a few)

    And it still hasn't changed.

So when people start saying "Lets make this a law" I want to kindly tell you to "stay in your lane" "mind your own business" and "quit trying to use the Courts to influence any portion of capitalism, because in the end it makes it far harder for anyone to start up a business when you heavily regulate the ability to do business (this used to be a Country of dreams because it wasn't retarded expensive to start up a business - I own 3 so I have reference) allowing those currently in power to stay alive in their market" but this is a far deeper conversation and not one we can fix on this forum, but have, sure.

Since someone mentioned the UK plugs, I figured I'd post this:

The multi-adapters are terrifying as well. The one that Linus actually showed in the video is __amazing__ because it includes a feature that most people didn't even know about! In the UK or parts of Europe, it turns into a free lamp tester! The ever wonderful Big Clive talks about them here:

One of the safety things that we in the US are more and more commonly seeing (and something that to this day saves lives and eliminates those nasty shocks that Linus so hates) are RCD devices. They've been part of the US National Electric Code for some time now and are super cool, and Technology Connections has a wonderful video on how they work over here:

for things like this it doesn't need to be a sudden switch forcing an unusual spike in production and sales of a new product, but rather a gradual change over as new buildings are built. Also (probably not affected by outlet standards but...) if a new standard increases power use efficiency, then the benefits have the potential to outweight the negative costs of a new production.
for standardization sake, we don't need more than use of the three prong design shown a few comments above this. If a focus on blind or handicapped is given, then little more than an angle is needed.
I've got two hole designs here that can apply to the three pronged center ground design above

There is benefit ... higher voltage means less current.  You can have products which use more than 1600w (you're limited to 110v 15a or something like that, so you could have 230v 16A or around 2400w), like let's say induction cookers, electric plates, electric ovens, various kitchen devices.
Also switching power supplies are more efficient when running at higher voltages, like let's say 90% efficiency on 110v vs 92% efficiency on 230v

Other things that come to mind... it may make sense to come up with a standard to have 24v or 48v DC in the house. With more and more LED based lightning, pretty much every led bulb comes with either a cheap but poor efficiency capacitive dropper power supply or a switching power supply / led driver ...
We could have 24v or 48v DC for lightning, and that would make conversion more efficient and less problematic (less flickering etc)
There would be a problem with losses in cables but when we have 10-20w led bulbs vs 100w incadescent bulbs ...

There's a minuscule benefit to having everyone switch to a single unifying plug. Only a handful of people travel around enough for this to be a problem and even then, most times an adapter gets these people by since many electronics are now universal with regards to AC input.

I usually would say that it's the fault of the manufacturer of the laptop, but tbh this cpu kicks out such a stupid amount of heat i'm pointing at intel for this one.
Who thinks a cpu that can kick out up to 160W of heat by default belongs in a laptop?!
