That's good news, but only if NBN Co can fix the congestion problems which happen at peak times. I get 70-80 Mbps and 30 ms ping during off peak times, but it slows right down to <10 Mbps and 200 ping during busy times. This is with an FTTN connection though.

It should be noted that new release titles will continue to be DX11 and DX12 games for some time now. If developers ditch DX11 completely they will be abandoning all of their non-Windows 10 customers. The best course of action is to use Vulkan, but I don't foresee many devs using it.

Epis got a reaction from Castdeath97 in Battlefield 5 rumored to be set in WW1
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed he's already seen the game and thinks it's a "fun, new Battlefield''. And that it ''will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game; more to come on that''. When asked about what Battlefield 5 will offer, Patrick Bach said “More features. More extras. More destruction.'' And supposedly the title of the game will be Battlefield 5: Armageddon.
My mistake - they haven't actually confirmed a modern setting. However, the evidence above leads me to believe it will be in a modern setting for sure. I don't think a game set in WWI - assuming it were historically accurate - would have more large scale destruction and "extras" like weapons or gadgets. Also, the name "Armageddon" itself implies some huge, cataclysmic war - far greater than any battle seen in WWI.

Damn, if what you're saying is true then I'm worried my G602 will start to give up on me. I've only had it for 3 weeks and it's been flawless. If anything happens I'll be sure to post about it.

You also mentioned the weight of the G602 due to the batteries. Consider using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries - they're quite a bit lighter than the included ones and last longer too.

If Windows didn't automatically install the Asus touchpad driver you will have to search for it yourself online, otherwise it will remain a basic touchpad.

I had the same thing happen with my Lenovo touchpad but Windows managed to find the driver and install it automatically with the Windows 10 v1151 update.

EDIT: Okay, after some Googling I found the new Asus Smart Gesture driver which should help you out: dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Apps_for_Win10/SmartGesture/SmartGesture_Win10_64_VER4012.zip

Yes, the 40% increase is independent of the new process node, so that also has to be taken into account for any performance improvements.
I still see two very large problems for AMD and potential customers.
The first one being that people expect dirt cheap enthusiast hexa and octa core processors. This simply won't happen. AMD needs to make lots of money. While I don't know how many octa core SKUs we'll see, I would be surprised if you saw one under $600. If you need the cores, you need to give the cash. Intel sure as hell won't undercut (perhaps only in OEM-like bulk orders, as they did in the past), so AMD will set the price has high as they reasonably can and if you're paying a thousand dollars for 8 cores from Intel, why would AMD price theirs at under half when you don't have any alternative? They'll most definitely undercut Intel somewhat, but a couple hundred dollars at the most for a similar top SKU.
The next problem is extremely scary for AMD. People want AMD to deliver a competitive product. Why? So that they can purchase cheaper and faster Intel and Nvidia products.
These two reasons are why AMD just can't win. The environment is so toxic for them. No matter what they do, people will stick to those who essentially fuck them over because that's what's familiar.

About this 40% greater IPC claim.
I am sure that when it is released people will twist it and say that AMD claimed 40% greater performance.

Honestly, I feel like the biggest perceivable increase in speed in an old desktop like that is to add an SSD. That would also be a much more cost effective alternative to a new CPU and potentially a new motherboard, RAM and PSU. You could use the SSD for Windows, MS Office, Chrome and such, while retiring the Barracuda HDD to longer term storage for photos, videos, etc.
