I'd also consider proof-reading your site if you expect anyone to take it seriously.
E.g. you have spelled "Specifocations" wrong.

ChristopherH got a reaction from Versti in random drive appeared
Hi Versti,
Would be worthwhile checking Disk Management (accessible by "Start > Run > diskmgmt.msc" or right-click on Start and select Disk Management) to see if your physical disk had a hidden partition which was given a drive letter by accident.

Return it then, people who buy stuff first and THEN come to ask for advice makes me rather sick.

I strongly disagree with your statement. Generally, websites are released in an Alpha/Beta "mode" to allow people to find bugs and report them, as more often than not, bugs sometimes can't be found until it goes live. Running a Beta version allows this fault-finding to take place. And if your read through my posts, I did at no point state that people should not use the forum. You said that people should leave FP alone, on the contrary, people should be using it more and reporting bugs that have not already been found. This is obviously dependent on LMG/FP creating a bug reporting tool.

If you have a legit copy and then upgrade your motherboard, CPU, etc. then you do not need to buy a new licence. All you need to do is contact the Microsoft Activation Centre and complete a telephone activation. You can only transfer MS OS licensing in the following circumstances:
OEM / System Builder:
If your PC has suffered a major hardware failure (e.g. motherboard has failed due to power surge) and is not repairable, and like-for-like parts cannot be sourced. Your board has been replaced due to a faulty IO port, etc. These licences are not available through retail channels, unless purchased with a pre-built system. Most hardware channel partners will sell the OS uninstalled if you purchase 99% of the parts that are needed to build a PC (Motherboard, CPU, PSU, HDD and RAM) and are building it yourself. Retail:
You can transfer the license in almost all circumstances, as long as the installation of Windows has been removed from the old machine and will no longer be used. -

On the contrary, people should (at the very most) subscribe to Floatplane just like you and I, every $3 counts in the grand scheme of things. And who knows, the more that sign-up, the quicker it may be completed? At the very least, if 100 people signed up at $3 each, that would be a good chunk towards the operational expenditure costs for the hardware used to operate the website.

Generally, you want to perform a clean install every 12 months. Unless you are an advanced user and change folders to funky locations, you usually only need to backup your Desktop and Documents folders (in C:\Users\<username>\ directory) to external media, then format the HDD/SSD and reinstall. Otherwise, best to create an image of your PC in case you miss some files that you should have backed-up prior to doing a clean install.

Then you are doing something wrong. And it does not link to a Microsoft account (this only happens if you purchase an upgrade). This link tells you exactly how to do what you need to do (and is even endorsed by a MS employee):

ChristopherH got a reaction from Bruno_A in Internet Speed
Not necessarily. You need to factor in the distance to the SpeedTest.net server, the # of hops to the server, the quality of the network in between and what sort of hardware it is transiting through, etc. Honestly, 14-17Mbps (1.8MB/s to 2.1MB/s) is an excellent speed for ADSL. I wish that sort of speed was consistent here in Australia.
Also, the down/uplink speeds you see in your router are typically to your carrier's Digital Subscriber Line Access Modules (DSLAMs) in your local telephone exchange, not to the public internet. This is because you can test to many different speedtest servers and get many different results. I can almost guarantee you that if you tested to an Australian server, you would get (roughly) 5-10Mbps if you are lucky, with a latency of no lower than 120ms.

Yeah, razer is crap, OP shouldn't waste money on that stuff.
Just a bunch of green LEDs and marketing for children, the product quality and customer service is just plain bad.

ChristopherH got a reaction from leadeater in Server for under $1500 (not including HDD)
I picked up a "cheap" Dell PowerEdge R720 from eBay for $1150 AUD (about $881 USD) which had dual E5-2690 CPUs and 64GB RAM which can hold max 16 x 2.5" disks, should be able to find the drive cages for 3.5" disks as well if you prefer the larger disks. However I found the 2.5" work just the same. More efficient when using SSDs, you'd get more real estate out of it.
