Purpose of PC? It would be a good idea to wait for thread ripper if possible, though I suspect you dont really care much for value if getting the 7980.

Both will be bottlenecked by your AMD Athlon, so you might want to upgrade that, but if not, grab a 1060.

How about the GTX 1060? I believe that is around your price range? I know its more expensive in the EU so you might not be able to get it for your price range. If you can't, I would suggest the 780, but its around equal to performance as the 1060, if not worse, and the 1060 has 6G instead of 3G and is nicer tbh.

Forgot to post reasoning. That motherboard is overpriced for your intentions and a waste, so I lowered the motherboard which would work just as fine especially if you're not overclocking, which you can't even REALLY do with the i5 6500, so, I also added a 6600k with that saved money and switched to an evo 212, in the event that you don't overclock, which I don't think you will be. With this saved money, I switched it to a 1070 and then I also switched the SSD out for a cheaper one, which will run slower, but it will likely be hardly noticeable if you're not transferring files like your life depended on it.  I also added a 1tb hard drive for mass storage, and a define R5 which you can switch out for any ~$100 case, its sort of a placeholder but is good as well. You save $100 which you can spend on an OS or more storage or anything you want like a keyboard

I'd pretty much just upgrade the graphics card, I believe that xeon is still pretty great! If your budget is $400-$500 you could pick up a GTX 1070 and have around $80 left.
Though, I don't know much about that specific xeon.

Just make sure the motherboard has a pcie 16x 3.0 lane

Did you try totally re-mounting it and re-applying thermal paste? It's weird, the 6700k definitely should run cooler than the 6300, and a LOT cooler than how its currently running.

Load times for games can change from a LOT to a LITTLE, but if you don't have an SSD for your OS, buy one for your OS and have some space left over for certain games that it would work better with.

Recommended specs for games should be taken with a grain of salt. They're generally really inaccurate.

Shd0w2 reacted to minibois in Recommended System requirements exagerated?
It's because 'minimum' and 'recommend' explained. Is minimum the absolute bare minimum to run a game at 720p low settings? Or is it the bare minimum to run it at 1080p, high 60fps constant? Or is that recommend? Or is recommended 4K Ultra 60fps?

Look at the requirements and don't take it too serious. If you want to know what you need for a game, look up benchmarks.

You can mix SLI cards, even if it is like a reference board and a custom PCB. If you can sell / trade your 980ti for a 1080 and pay just a bit extra I would do that, but if you'd just have an extra 980ti left over from buying a 1080, then I'd just buy a second 980ti instead. Two 980ti's will perform better is all titles that reasonably support SLI.
