Ryzen 3 3100 is very capable; I would pair it up to RTX 2060 or something in similar weight class

I mean that's not something I can really decide, but I think I would just try getting a better gpu like a 1050ti or maybe 1060 then it would be actually be usable.

Worst case scenario you can just clear CMOS, that will restore every BiOS setting to factory settings, including turning the on-board graphics on. If you have changed any settings in the BiOS (i.e., Enable X.M.P), you will have to re-enable that setting, but then you should be fine.

Do remember to run DDU to get rid of the Nvidia drivers, they can cause issues with games.

Zev_7 reacted to RONOTHAN## in Cyberpunk is more stable on my laptop?
If ram compatibility was the issue, you probably would have seen issues well before now. Personally, I ran a kit of G.Skill Ripjaws V that was not on my QVL in a first gen Ryzen system (notoriously picky with ram) and it worked fine. To be fair, I got lucky, but if you have been using it for longer than 3-4 months and haven't noticed any issues besides Cyberpunk, I highly doubt that's the issue, and would hate to see you waste money on ram that would do nothing your current kit of memory cannot do.

As for room temperatures, case size really does not correlate with the temperature of the room. Your components are generating the same amount of heat no matter what case they are in as long as they are not thermal throttling, the only thing that bigger cases allow for is better airflow allowing the components to run cooler and thus get better performance. An 011 Dynamic is a pretty decent case when it comes to airflow, as long as its filled with fans, which is what you want. As said above, the only real way to improve temperatures in your room would be to undervolt and underclock your GPU, since your CPU is locked. I really wouldn't recommend that, however, since if you don't know what you are doing, you can get some weird issues showing up. I personally would just recommend you downgrade to a 3070 if its that big a deal for you, since it would be less of a headache, and it uses less power out of the box, therefore allowing it to run cooler and heat up your room less. If you can live with the temperature, I would just stick with the 3080 and maybe reduce its power output to 90% compared to 100% to let it run cooler and not run quite as hot.

Probably the best and most effective way to reduce temps in your room would be to just get window AC unit. You can find those for about $100 new IIRC, so the price of a new case as you were considering before.

the 3080 requires 750W or more so your PSU is running hotter than it should.

you could do some undervolting as previous comment, just do some small changes and if you want to mess in the BIOS for CPU or GPU.
One can buy those room AC, or get a ventelation hole with some filter and maybe install a fan to it.

Depends on what you mean by smaller, to make them run cool enough there will be some more heat.
Unless you want them to run dry or undervolt them which you can do (but check a video about such before doing anything crazy)
smaller can be nice or having a lower tier GPU etc.

Like above, as using a more full version of the 3080 card, longer and maybe set to go higher and with more load to watts and for such a demanding game.
650W PSU becomes a bit too low, and are likely hitting the limit where it will crash.
While you can use an 650W PSU for that card, it's better to have a bit higher rated PSU more so for overclocking.

Zev_7 reacted to RONOTHAN## in Cyberpunk is more stable on my laptop?
A 650w PSU with a 3080 can cause some issues, and if I were to guess, that would be the problem. Try to limit the power usage for the 3080 through afterburner to something like 75% and see if you still have those same issues. If that fixes it, congratulations, you need to get a new PSU. If that doesn't fix it, the answer might just be Cyberpunk is a broken game.

Sounds like you had a short. Some manufactures use a different pinout for cables, definitely don't use the power supply with the corsair cables.

Zev_7 reacted to Bombastinator in My PCs keep switching between 2.4ghz and 5Ghz bands, how do i fix this?
Didn’t say that.  Those are two ways I’ve seen it fixed.  You can lock the bands on all the WiFi devices to the same one like you were planning for example.  The problem with that is shot range radio is susceptible to things like people walking by and other WiFi routers constantly looking for the best signal.  There will be cutouts.  If you can find which bands the router around you use, which you can do by watching the wifi traffic you might be able to identify a type no one is using and use that.  It will probably be a slow one.  The repeater trick works though, as does cable.  Cable always works.

As to how to lock the routers you’re going to have to access them directly which used to be generally done with a web browser and knowing their ip addresses. If it still is I don’t know.

It looks like the bases aren't wireless but if your dad can get his head out of his ass and be ok with some decent cable management you can extend your wifi throughout the house a lot better.

From what it sounds like your dad picked a terrible place to put the router. it should be in a centralized location of the house, as close to smack dab in the middle as you can. as far as extending it... LTT did a video about a network thing that had a central modem then several wireless bases around the house to improve full house coverage. that was awhile ago, not sure if i'd be able to find the video.

DIY is always cheaper unless there is a *massive* price disparity between consumer and wholesale prices, which is basically impossible.

Keep in mind your own work doesn't come with a warranty, if that matters to you than a local shop makes far more sense.

Theoretically; you may want to adjust can curves, keep air ports clear, and maybe get a laptop cooling pad. From the disassembly video it looks like the battery touches the external shell so a cooling pad may do something to help the battery survive.

Ok, stuff works more or less like this:
    a. VPN's own a large pool of IP addresses
    b. Trolls and malicious actors use VPN's to avoid IP bans
    c. Many of these IP's are blacklisted once banned, and they get banned from lots of services (don't believe me, find a free "proxy" and try to post just about anywhere.)

So it's in the VPN operators best interests to throw people off VPN's that abuse them for this purpose, because it quickly devalues their usefulness as a privacy solution.

Now throw-away emails are another thing. Free email providers that are popular with spammers, get blacklisted from everything (eg services hosted in Russia and China), but services like gmail, yahoo, hotmail/outlook.com remain not blacklisted because they would block too much of the english-speaking world by doing so.

So if you legitimately want to post anonymously somewhere, it gets pretty expensive to keep creating new anonymous identities.

And the quickest way to prevent this, is by making privacy extinct. So the trolls are the ones causing the erosion of privacy as big tech companies want to know more and more about you just to do simple things.

For example, ever visit a site for the first time, and have to "give an email address" just to read past the first page? That's not an innocent request.

eBay/Paypal track every IP address, email address, and physical address you've ever entered into the site. I'm sure Amazon, Google, Twitter, Yahoo, etc all do the same. This information is never deleted.

If you lose your email or paypal account due to chargebacks or fraud, good luck ever getting another one. Twitter, Google, etc can do the same. Companies that have have access to that information via LexisNexis.

Pretty much all Intel CPUs are affected by this mess while AMD in contrast have nothing to worry about. Best thing you can do is disable hyperthreading since you have a i3. And just don't go on any stupid websites. And that's about it.
