2060 is probably going to be between 1070 and 1070Ti performance and it's not going to be cheaper. I don't see enough value in 2060 if you can get vega56 with freesync for similar price. Go get that vega and stay happy man!  Also as a slight bonus you're going to give AMD some money which means you'll be actively working towards better competition on market!

Verrm got a reaction from Lieo in Is the i7-8700K enough?
My friend here are my 2 cents:
    1. If you want to stream and game on the same PC then get 2700x and a decent x470 motherboard. There is absolutely no reason to get 8700k for streaming. Maybe 8core intel cpus that will come in distant future will do something about this but I expect it being MUCH more expensive.
    2. If you worry about FPS in games with 2700x then don't - the 2700x will push over 100fps with a right GPU and this is basically all you need in the games you want to play/stream.
    3. 16GB Ram I think will be enough for multitasking (stream+game+twitch). Just have minimal amount of Chrome tabs opened - chrome can be ram-intensive.
    4. 16GB ram can be limiting if you want to game+render at the same time, but even so you shouldn't get that much of a performance decrease.
    5. If you're not so set on getting over 144fps in all titles all the time the 1080Ti is sufficient enough for everything you want to do, 2080Ti will be probably more reasonable only if you plan to game at 1440p or 4k. But then higher res is not good for streaming/YT.
    Hope this helps

    Quick story:
1.bought an rx480, did an rma they sent a rx580 to replace.

2.a fan on the rx580 gtr (with swappable fans) fails and they say they will send a replacement.

    3. Receive a message saying that a rx580 "GTS" shroud was shipped to me free of charge

4.i message xfx and tell them it seems they made a mistake and what i should do cuz i don't need a gts card heatsink+fans. They answer with "no problem, that's great and have a nice day" so i think they indeed sent me just a fan

    5. Today i receive and entire heatsink with fans (complete shroud) for an rx580 gts which is not even the right card, as i suspected.... now waiting for an answer from them haha.

I want to outline here that they really seems to just wanna help you, even if they made a mistake here, it still shows that they don't cause hassle and really look forward to helping you.

Now i guess they'll just send me the damn fan finally

Maybe they don't have the most reliable stuff but i'll be damned, they really do back their products with amazing support.

You do play on 1080p monitor, right??
Then OC your rx480 and hold on for a month or so. You probably will have issues in selling games and the premium you pay for Vega is probably in the end not worth Free Sync (you will pull 80+ fps in most titles after your purchase).

Yeah but i'm not pre-ordering or anything silly like that...i'll wait for performance numbers and i'll probably also wait for Christmas...maybe there will be a bit of a better deal then, and it will make a great christmas gift for daddy I do want more performance for VR supersampling, but i'm not in a bad situation right now my card works fine for what i do still but in the long run it'll be a good move to upgrade and enjoy better performance for a longer while...i don't know we'll see but i think i can hold off until christmas and see how it plays out
Good luck to you as well for the future!

GTX 780ti was 2880 cuda cores...so that doesn't mean anything

it's a new architecture, how much a turin core can process vs a pascal core...that we don't know yet...but they said they have new units to process floating point operations in parallel with integer operation so the gains will likely be very substantial...it's a 2 gen bump and volta was already a lot superior to pascal per core.

I heard from Hardware Unboxed that it's gonna be closer to 1070Ti level of performance and I think I can agree with him. This means that unless you really want RT you might want to consider buying 1070Ti and save some cash or buy 1080.

    Disagree 100% with this post.

Just because they charge money for something does not make it anti consumer. They're additions to the game, and they have no effect on gameplay.

I think this is a totally fair way to do micro transactions. The fact they added 312 skins is frankly insane.

Oh no, a developer adds cosmetic items to a game which you can either get from playing the game or pay for the ones you want! and not just that, if you go with the latter, 50% of the money goes towards esport teams instead of the developers!

What a terrible thing to do!

    /sarcasm

    Edit:
Actually, I think these are really good news. I think this is a great example of how to do lootboxes properly.
    1) Release the game at full price.
    2) Constantly release patches which adds new characters, tweak things, new maps etc, for free.
    3) Have cosmetic things which you can either get from lootboxes (which you earn by simply playing the game), or by buying specific skins with money.
    4) Give some of the money you earn from lootboxes (50% is a big chunk) to the esport teams to support them.

On top of that, you can get one free skin of your choice for free.

    I see this as a win-win-win situation.
Players gets a great game with gets additional content for free. On top of that you never feel like you lost because someone had spent more money than you. Blizzard wins by having a reliable stream of revenue to fund future content with. eSports wins by getting funded by the developers themselves. Good job Blizzard!

Ok, then first thing you want to do is to get that old laptop open and clean everything inside with compressed air and then reapply new thermal paste to make sure there is no thermal issues making your CPU clock lower then it actually can run. Check if your fans are turning smoothly.
Then check forums for tweaking your windows setting to get maximum performance out of it. If you run Windows 10 they you can check forums of low-end new machines that run this OS, for example: 2-in-1 cheap hybrid laptops, GPD Win or other GPD products, Kiano products, Laptops with Atom CPUs. Some forums have great knowledge of how to optimize your Windows for max output in games.
Then you can check if your CPU/Bios/Mobo combo can overclock your cpu/ram. Then you can make sure to upgrade your gpu driver.
If everything else fails then check google if there are some tweaks to the game you want to run to make it perform better. Perhaps the run in compatibility mode for older version of windows?

Good luck! Currently I am fighting with my own laptop that can run Skyrim at 17-34fps. But I have mostly thermal issues at the moment that I am about to solve this weekend by replacing thermal paste and dusting out interiors   It's not good currently running CPU+GPU both at 90 degrees when gaming lol

It does not work any better. Similarly performing CPUs either Ryzens or Intels will give you similar results in games. Somehow AMD did not manage to make their GPUs work better with Ryzen - This is probably because the graphic cards are designed by a totally different branch called Radeon Technology Group. They do not talk that much with guys from CPU teams.

To be honest I'm not that certain about this 10nm cpus. I heard that currently their 10nm performs worse then their 14nm ffn++. So I think that their first 10nm cpu lineup will be performing better purely because they will have more cores, lower power draw, and less heat generated. I suspect we'll have to wait till 10nm+ for a nice bump in performance. 10nm will bring major difference mainly to laptop market. The i7-9500U might be a game-changer, finally making the U cpus capable ones for gaming. Small ultrabooks with i7-9500U, very efficient in office tasks, once hooked up to docking station with GPU via thunderbolt will turn into gaming beasts. They even might hold the Vega iGPUs for some on-the-go playing. My dream

h310 + i7 8700 certainly will be a killer deal, 2666mhz for memory frequency shouldn't be bad at all.

Ryzen+ might keep competition spiced up, whatever way you decide to go it will certain give you good performance, a shame not being able to wait all the way to August~September for the 10nm 8c/16t i7 9700k now that processor is going to swipe the floor even with current i9's ^^

Sorry heh, somehow didn't expect a girl here, but I think you're already kinda used to it (sad but true)  My wife is not so interested in this stuff, she turns on her "half-listening" face when I start talking about this

Either way you made a very fair point that while 8700 should be able to leverage most of the 2080Ti performance, the 8600k might be lacking in cores.

I think this is an issue with us enthusiasts thinking that overclocking/higher clocks = fun & performance. Tinkering is deep in us and when you got locked CPU you sometimes feel like the fun is somewhere else. Also we grew thinking that higher clocks = higher performance. Especially 4.3Ghz vs possibly 5.0GHz, as in this situation. While it is mostly truth in this case it's about cores. And intel through last years taught us that we always get the same cores and there is no reason to consider them.

I think I personally will wait until Feb/March and hopefully there will be B-series and H-series motherboards available. Unless by then AMD will blow Intel away with new Ryzens. Curious times we live in

Oh thank you so much for the kind words ^^ I'm a girl by the way haha but still appreciate it as not many do so.

I have been defending along side @Morgan MLGman that the locked i7 offers more value since the i5 6600k vs i7 6700 days, this is back then as games finally started fully utilizing at least all 4 cores having just 4c/4t would result in 100% usages and no room for system resources and side stuff...

The main issue with it is the very low minimums, this is the most important thing in gaming way more important than average because those micro-freezes, the stuttering that really breaks immersion in the game is caused when these minimums are too low, your eye and brain captures the sudden decrease in frames even if it stays above 60 should it go like 144 all the way down to 60 all of sudden.

Since the i7 6700 had hyper-threading it did alleviated it and gave more breathing room so its minimums were much superior even if averages were the same.

Now people back then concerned on overclocking as a future proofing method like before didn't count with one simple thing, Intel raising the core count, it's obvious, there is simply no denying more cores when they are the best cores available will be better.

The i7 7700 vs i7 7700k they are quite equal, at stock it is identical, overclocked well you have a couple extra frames... but now both are barely on pair with the i5 8400 entry level to mid end... it is pathetic, thinking in a future more powerful GTX 2080 Ti if your i7 7700 is at 4gh or 5gh there will be bottlenecks all around just the same you'll be in need for an upgrade just the same... so much for futuring proofing on a platform.

Therefore instead of spending heavy money on a Asus Maximus and get the overclockable i7 the actual better proofing yourself is getting the h110 and an i7 7700 you spend less you make reselling it easier because you also can ask less for it and you get a free path to beyond... and mind you had more powerful system than one with the overclocked i5.

Having all that in mind I think that the i5 8600k is in a difficult selling position, it is enough for todays high end GPUs like the 1080 Ti since even the cheaper i5 8400 equals an i7 7700k so it is plenty... but the GTX 2080 Ti will already have 6cores mainstream for both Intel and AMD they will optimize it so the i7 8700k with Hyper-Threading and high frequency can show how much faster it is to an i5 8400...

If you want to think of tomorrows graphics card you will need Hyper Threading and every thing again, the i5 8600k makes no sense it is realistically speaking the same as an i5 8400 for so much more expensive and just around you have the the i7 8700 fastest CPU in the world sitting? I say it is a no brainer.
    Cheers!
