Creekwater X got a reaction from leadeater in DNS Server Not Connecting To AD Server
It started pinging but would not join the domain. Even After I turned off the firewall all together just to test. Says network path not found when attempting to join.
Honestly I have a ESXi host with 2 TB SSD Raid 0 and 128 GB RAM and 2 8 core xeons and just trying to justify them and this server is weird with just installing Win Serv 16 bare where it won't detect the drive so I guess I'm just trying to find an excuse to utilize the virtualization.

Creekwater X reacted to Jarsky in FreeNAS 11.2 Won't Set IP Automatically On Boot
It seems it doesnt have an IP address or gateway set.
The only IP i can see is the lo which is local loop. The gb0 or gb1 interfaces don't have an inet address and theyre both showing <no carrier>
At the console menu did you select the option to Configure Network Interface, and try the DHCP option?
Also when configuring the network if its like FreeNas 9.x there should be an option to reset the network configuration, try "Y" on that.
Edit: P.S just to confirm, you definately connected one of the main network ports, and not the IPMI (management) port?
Should be one of (or both of) the 2 ports on the right...not the stand alone one on the left

Creekwater X got a reaction from Jarsky in FreeNAS 11.2 Won't Recognize USB On Install Boot
I resolved the issue through ghetto-fabulous means XD! I ended up taking my pc monitor with multiple USBs out of my pc and dragging it over to my server and with a few adapters and extensions got it booted. Thanks

Creekwater X got a reaction from Teddy07 in Lunch with my CIO
Ended out pretty great! What was supposed to be a 45 min lunch turned into an hour and a half. Talked about many things such as vacations and light stuff like that. Then we talked about different products that the company was looking into and the possibility of expansion for the offices. Streamlining workflows and ticking system. And he also told me some of the mistakes he's made and that I just need to keep plodding along through college because it does make a resume look a lot better for any future opportunities that come up.

It could be a test, to see if he wants to promote you, see how you really are as a person. Order ONE beer make it last an hour! If the convo stalls, hit the shitter for a recess to gather your thoughts, dont be more then 8 minutes in the washroom. Read over your prep notes, do some homework and see what you can pull up on him for info on the interweb. He could be on Faceplant posting pictures and typing what he eat everyday for supper. That is primo info. Maybe he is posting pictures of his offspring, maybe at a soccer game, maybe family trips. For the convo, if he is into Mustangs just say your brother has a Mustang, dont be too creepy and say you looked at his FB page. Act like its a coincidence.

Creekwater X reacted to SCHISCHKA in New Job
In IT, workers in the medical industry are the hardest customers to please. Don't try to explain anything to them. They don't care. They just want their shit to work. From their perspective their job of catering to patients is more important than a machine. You only exist because the crappy machine is not up to the job, so as rude as they are to you, you must bite your tongue and be like ned flanders.
