FreeNAS 11.2 Won't Recognize USB On Install Boot

I thought of that and checked the back of my server and it only had 2 USB slots (one for mouse/keyboard, one for install media) been looking around for a hub for a while now ?

That's odd....even my old Pentium 4 from 2003 had 4 rear USB ports + 2 front ports...

You don't have any front ports? no spare USB PCI-E card that came with the mobo? No USB hub built into the monitor?

I am getting back into my home lab after not using it for a couple months. Anyways on boot of FreeNAS it asks which disk to install it to and it will show a virtual FDD and the RAID I set up to be the storage for FreeNAS but I was under the impression that you were supposed to install it on the USB that you installed the iso on in the first place, which is not showing up on that menu. As always any advice for what I am sure is a ID10t error is greatly appreciated.

Attach a second USB stick to install too.

When you install FreeNAS it will wipe the disk (usb stick) that you select...so you cant install it to the installation USB drive.

It is rackmount server lol Cisco UCS C210 M2. Doesn't have any front just two little ones in the back. I even opened it up cause they sometimes have a port just chilling on the mobo itself.

Actually you can, have done it a few times... the installer itself is being run from in RAM I believe, so doesn't effect the installer drive at all.

Not sure what the problem is however, but sounds as if the installer itself is bad maybe... I would re-do the installer drive and make sure rufus is set to the correct settings for the installer drive, eg MBR/GPT and BIOS/UEFI.

To install from a USB stick to another USB stick, two USB ports are needed, each with an inserted USB device. One USB stick contains the installer. The other USB stick is the destination for the FreeNAS® installation. Take care to select the correct USB device for the FreeNAS® installation. It is not possible to install FreeNAS® onto the same USB stick containing the installer. After installation, remove the installer USB stick. It might also be necessary to adjust the BIOS configuration to boot from the new FreeNAS® USB stick.

I must be getting it confused with another installer then, I do apologize, I could have sworn that I'd done that in freenas. Maybe it was ESXi?

You used to be able to do that on the older versions of FreeNAS, a few years ago, but you can't do it any more.
